Thinking about Johns Hopkins, Virginia, Lehigh, and Cornell?

I am from a top Jesuit college prep high school in Missouri
My GPA is about a 3.9 weighted....top 10%
I scored a 32 on my act plus writing
SAT: verbal-650
math-710
writing-700

Classes-I have taken the toughest course load my school has to offer except for math.

APs: Chemistry-5, Biology-5. I also plan to take AP government, AP Lit and writing, and AP spanish (4th year)

ECs: I am very involved in community service and social justice, above and beyond required service including service retreats and clubs.

I am in charge of the tuturing program my school offers. And I have been a tutor in spanish, math, english, and science since sophomore year.

I was class President Freshman and Sophomore year, a rep junior year, and probably a rep senior year. Part of the Spirit club and a key member of the Student Government Association the past 3 years.

I played football freshman year, made the A team. I have played lacrosse every year, varsity sophomore-senior year. Both our lacrosse and football teams are strong state competetors each year. We won state in lacrosse my junior year.

I play lacrosse year round but during the summer i work 40 hrs/week for a technology company that designs and build robotics for pharmacies.

I participated in the annual science knowledge bowl last year, and plan to do so again next year. I did very well.

I plan to retake the SAT this october and should do better, probably around 2100.

I plan to apply to the school of engineering

What are my chances?
cogdawg58 is online now

there is a chances forum, you know.

I don't have any idea, but apply where you would like to go. Also apply to less elite schools and a safety school just to make sure that you have a place that you will still enjoy to go to when the time comes.

That SAT score will definitely hurt you for UVa, especially considering you're out of state. =) You're reaching for Cornell and reaching a bit less for JHU. Lehigh? I'm not familiar with the school but judging from classmates who got in I'd say you're in.

Lehigh is the best bet

Cornell engineering (which is highly competitive amongst the ivys) is an extreme reach for you considering that you haven't taken the most hardest math course load as possible. Your SAT scores are not amazing enough to make up for that. I would make sure to have a safety with a descent engineering program thrown into there. I don't know much about Lehigh.
