Thinking Ahead- Summer Plans

Okay- I haven’t done alot over the summer for my Fresh & Sophmore years of HS- here’s what I am planning for Jr. year

Spanish 3 at a university

Volunteering and Community Service

Trying to find some math course at a university that I could also take

unconfirmed- can’t choose betwee the three, know i can get into one- skeptical about the others

SNFI again(Debate camp, 2 weeks)

TASP

JSA
all three would conflict with one-another, still very skeptical about TASP, JSA seems interesting and I loved SNFI last year

I’m also kind of interested in visiting another country over the summer, maybe Italy or Japan

Also- would it be good to get job experience over the summer? I wouldn’t mind working at Best Buy or Barnes & Noble… ideas/tips/comments? Thanks!

sounds good im lucky i live on long island really close to musiker tours(its a teen tour place) and they have stuff at universities its really popular on long island i pass musiker tours all the time...u could go and take classes at a college(some include: Michigan Northeastern UCLA and a few more i forgot..) so i might do that this summer

Oh shazbot, I don't even plan for day after tommorow. I mean, what's the point of planning so much ahead -- everything can happen.

Heh, I'm just asking what I should plan on I don't know what to do but I want to be fully prepared for college and have a broad range of things- and I've narrowed it down to what i'm genuinely interested in.

Ha this thread is wishful thinking. It's only September.

But of course you can't wait until your Senior year. But you gotta wait, buddy, cause that spot belongs to '07 now until we allow you to take it over. And when or if that happens you better say "Thank you."

Try and get through your year now. Wait until March/April to worry about summer plans.

Camp + one university course over the summer is quite demanding already; I took group theory + research this summer and I'm still finishing it up. And I wouldn't recommend job experience just because you could be doing so many better things.

I started thinking about the following summer at about this time last year. Apps for NJ Gov School were due in like October in my school and RSI and TASP and all are due in January I think.

PT1429 - look into doing one of JSA's four-day summer programs if you qualify (based on your state of residence). It wouldn't conflict with TASP and I think SNFI.

Oh and if it's any comfort... this past summer I did camp (4 weeks) + a college course (but online) + a high school course (also online), and I managed fine with tons of free time.

Lesmizie you live on long island too?

You go to VSS? Valley Stream South? I go to valley stream central. =P

Is there any programs at NYU or UCLA over the summer for people going into junior year?

Alright, I guess my only question left is that between TASP and debate camp?

March/April is too late, as application deadlines for many summer programs are in the Jan/Feb. range. It doesn't hurt to keep your eyes and ears open for opportunities, but also plan to have some fun over summer break. Everything doesn't have to be about summer school and doing other things that you feel will give you an edge on your college apps.

i certainly cannot wait for it to be next summer!!!!!!i will be a high school grad and hopefully getting ready to go to a good college!!!!!!!!

I can't wait for next summer, I'll still be in school.

I might do something at columbia this summer, havent decided yet.
