Thinking of changing major to Pharmacy

After just about the entire semester of constant pondering, researching lists upon lists of different majors I've come down to a select few majors I'd rather pursue than accounting which is what I'm studying right now. I'm currently a junior in accounting with a GPA of 3.50 but the classes are just so boring to me. I'm completely apathetic to the subject (why I kept going after the first class I do not know) but I feel that a switch isn't worth it unless it's something I'm actually interested in. I chose accounting on the premise that it's not "unbearable" and would net a decent salary.

With that out of the way, I'm thinking of earning a BS in Biology (I'm interested in science as a whole) and eventually going to a Pharmacy school so I have a few questions.

My parents can probably only contribute enough for textbooks so other than that I'm on my own in terms of tuition. I understand that Pharmacy school is very expensive. I live in San Francisco so my first choice would be UCSF to avoid housing costs. How much would financial aid/loans cover as an estimate? (I'm signed as a dependent under my mom, income is about 20k) I also plan to apply for some scholarships if I choose this path.

But I also understand that I may not even make it into a Pharmacy school so I'm hoping that a BS in Biology would be something to fall back on. I'm wondering how reliable a degree in Biology alone would be.

I'm trying to assess my situation before making a decision. Enrollment for the spring semester begins in a few days so I'd like some opinions on your experiences and what you make of this. I'm open to all opinions...

Thanks :)

A BS in biology is nearly useless don’t plan on falling back on it. Everyone who didn’t get into Med or Dental school has one. There are very few decent jobs other than being a lab serf doing QC micro tests or something similar.

For Pharmacy a Biochem major is far more useful and preferred. A BSc. is not necessary at all, just be sure that you have anatomy, chem through organic, the required bio classes.
