Thinking of college transfer

Hi everyone,
I am a freshman at Penn State - University Park and for various reasons I am considering transferring. If I do decide to send some transfer apps, they will only be for Stanford, Northwestern, and possibly a few other very selective schools.

Do I have a decent chance of getting into a selective college as a transfer if:
-My 1st semester GPA here will be either a 4.0 or 3.91 (I haven't finished up yet).
-Extra Currics: work 18ish hours a week, was involved in a club for fall semester
-ACT was a 35,
-SAT was 2200 with 800 on math.

Also, I applied for admission to Stanford and Northwestern last year and was denied, will this affect my chances?
Thanks for any advice!

Little chance you would get into either after being denied and only having one semester under your belt. Stanford only accepted 25 transfers last year (2%). Northwestern was a little better at 16%.

If you want to transfer to top schools, you should apply to those you really want to get into as well as those you will likely be accepted by.

Schools that accept a decent amount of transfers: (ranging from 20%-45%)
Emory
Vanderbilt
Rice
Notre Dame
UCB
UVA
UCLA
UNC
Brandies
NYU

If FA is a factor, you should look at only those schools with good FA for transfers or that meet full need for transfers.

Cornell and Penn are other selective schools that you’d stand a reasonable chance transferring to. Stanford is near impossible to transfer into however.

wow 25 transfers to Stanford…
thanks for the advice
