Thinking of finding a room mate(s) second year in a city 30 min from college....

The city where I went to community college is 30 min from the college. My parents live 30 min from the college in the other direction, so living at home I'd save more money. I am trying to get a scholarship that could help pay for housing.

Where my parents live is rather boring and rural. The city where I went to community college has affordable rental units, where I could be paying $200-$300 for a place.

My friends in my hometown don't like to go into the college town. So I don't even get the benefit of enjoying that college experience. I have no desire whatsoever to the move to the college town. I can't seem to find anyone from the college I would want to room with. However, I liked the people from my community college alot.

I was thinking of starting at the college, and seeing if I met some1 who went to my community college or someone near where I went to community college and wants to room. My girlfriend also lives near the community college I went to. Alot of people don't like the area where my community college cause of more more crime and poverty and less of a college vibe. But I am not into drinking and partying, and hiking is the only thing I'd miss.

So any advice?

Thanks
