This a good sophmore year

Planned sophmore year, any suggestions for tweaking it. i want to be a engineer and go to ivy/top universities.

Pe
Ap english 10
AP History
Ap Biology/ chem
Ap cal/pre cal
French 2/ Ap french 2
Elective

Key club, leadership(not going to be a leader however since i wont get voted for), volunteering at food bank/ animal shelter.

May also dual enroll.

There’s only 2 AP englishes. Dual enrollment in 10th grade sounds like BS.

@wcao9311‌ disagree, at my school it is possible to dual enroll as a freshman (during spring courses) and more than possible to dual enroll as a sophomore so it is more than likely he is legitimate

Have similar schedule, its killing me on the inside but if you are up for a lot of work (depending on your teachers) you got this

what do you mean thier only 2 ap English’s and yes you can dual enroll, so long as you are 14.

I took dual credit chemistry in 10th grade.
Anyways, you have a good schedule! I wish I could have taken that many AP’s when I was in 10th grade.

@SheepLover does your school offer enough classes at a high level?

thank all of you guys for your help this site is much more helpful with college questions then yahoo answers is. So to ask questions:

Question

What is dual credit chemistry, you got 2x credit while taking chemistry, was it hard in dual enrollment due to it being a college level course.

Also which is better literature/language just remember by what you guys mean 2 englishes.

You guys really think this is good and could i get a 5.0 with this.

Is it really hard for you. Sheep also i like history, science very much and find them extremly easy. English aswell. Math i will have to try hard and so to for french.

I have a similar schedule except with only 6 periods but I don’t expect to get into an Ivy League university. Maybe UCLA…

This is a hard schedule already… I’m a junior and I don’t even have a schedule that is as difficult.

thanks but my parents want me to get into a ivy leauge or at least uc berkely.

So are these courses good for a engineer, and getting in ivy league/ uc berkely.

A lot of people at my school get into Ivies/Stanford/MIT/Caltech (like maybe ~15 each year), and they don’t have schedules that are as hard at yours. I think your schedule is pretty darn good in terms of course difficulty. Of course, there is more to getting into those schools than just classes. You also have to put up the numbers on standardized tests, and have good ECs.

wow thanks for those encouraging works. do you have any experience in dual enrollment. If i get accepted into ivies i probably will still stay in these clubs as i will grow to love people in them so this isnt just padding my resume. Also is this good if i want to be both a mechanical engineer/ computer science/engineering.

I don’t have experience with dual enrollment, so I can’t really give you any info about that. It’s great that you’re really into your clubs :). As for your degree, I guess some important courses to take would be Physics, Chem, Math, and Comp Sci. You should probably take those at some point, and it’s great that you’re already taking AP Chem as a sophomore.

Yeah so a new question would this be a good junior transcript

1)Ap cal bc/Cal D or III/ Multivariable cal
2)Ap English literature(you know if literature or language is better)
3)Ap Physics
4)Ap Social science
5)French 3/ Ap french 3
6)Elective
7)dual enrollment with math or whatever

Staying in clubs, more volunteering,etc.

I just realized you have extracurriculars. I don’t, this is why I don’t think I’ll get into an Ivy League. But you might.

dont worry man^. you can just join your local volunteering center or try volunteering at the library. You play sports that also is like extracurriculars, i dont play sports though they suck.

Which AP History are you taking? What English course will you take senior year if you’re taking AP Lang (I guess that’s what you’ll take this year?) now, since there are only two options? How is French II an AP? How are you taking AP Calc and Precalc at the same time (also, for your junior year schedule, how are you taking AP Calc BC and Multivar at the same time?)? What elective course are you taking? AP Bio and AP Chem at the same time as a sophomore is going to be hell.

I’m a sophomore, and my schedule (Honors Precalc, Honors English, Honors Chemistry, Engineering Design, Spanish III, World History, Marching Band/Colorguard) is hell; but perhaps it’s my school. It also depends on the difficulty of your school.

Definitely participate in more ECs. Yours are a little weak; only two clubs and no sports?

I’m dual enrolled in Spanish at a CC and I took a CC course last summer; for my school, dual enrollment means you take the course at school and you get a college grade for the class. The CC course I took wasn’t very hard (or at least, for me it wasn’t–I ended up with a 97 in the class), but others found it hard (most of the people in the class were college students, and some of them got 50% on tests).

thanks for sharing some info.

Are their 2 different histories. I mean any type of history im good at, but i probably will take ap world history.

They have ap version of french.

Im pretty sure you can dual enroll and take ap cal in school and multi in college.

Do you know which english is harder/easier

I dont know what elective can go in yet, maybe woodshop or something havent seen my schools electives

Not taking ap bio/chem same time just want to know which is better. Im doing very well in biology now and find it to easy, chemistry i dont know but would like to give it a try.

You have a nice schedule but im trying to take as many ap’s and if thier to hard drop to honors.

I cant play sports as i suck at them, and really just cant, im actually ok at basketball but cant dribble and dont care about it, football i find a stupid concussion inducing sport and also dont care about, baseball never thought much about it, tennis i probably would need to practice more but maybe, everything else i still suck at. I really have no passion for any sport and just feel thier a huge waste of time, but colleges want to see that you have less of a life outside school and focus only on dumb sports and huge amounts of homework.

I will try taking key club, leadership, csf(california scholarship asscociation), maybe something else(yale actually said 2-3 is okay as long as thier pretty good and take some time), form my own trash picking group or coding/robot building club. Also i will be volunteering at a food bank and animal shelter.

I probably will take some summer courses like math or something like french to get ahead more.

The question become does the amount of work kill time for ECs?
