I hope this finds you well this holiday season. Here at Fordham we heard of the damage that your house sustained and decided that there was more we could do to make your holiday better. This quilt was constructed by the student costume shop workers as a tool for learning sewing techniques but also with your family in mind, specifically S's brother, K. We hope you can use and enjoy it and hope your holiday season is full of blessings. Merry Christmas.

Our community was devastated by Hurricane Sandy. So was our home (including my younger S’s bedroom), cars and much of our property. Rebuilding has been VERY slow and it is starting to take its toll.

Shortly after the storm, the Fordham Costume Shop donated beautiful clothing to our Church which was set up as a relief center for the community. It was brought out by Fordham students who came to our home and helped us sort through our belongings, salvaging what we could and throwing out the rest.

I just wanted to share this with everyone because it touches upon one of those intangible qualities that led my S to choose Fordham over the other schools he was considering. We have been very happy with the program that he is in and with the education he is receiving, but THIS is priceless.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays & Happy New Year to all, and best of luck to the Class of 2017 as you come to a decision on where to spend the next four years of your life. :)

I can only imagine what the gift of that quilt means to you and your two sons, sandkmom. What a beautiful, meaningful gesture. I look forward to sharing your message posts with my daughter, who has applied to Fordham. Thank you.

sandkmom: I am truly sorry for the devastation you sustained and those on Long Island, Connecticut, Manhattan, Staten Island and New Jersey shore.

I am heartened once again by the Fordham family who has shown their compassion in reaching out to you with this wonderful quilt.

Fordham is special. And its family makes it so. Merry Christmas. God Bless. Sov.
