This is How We Should Spell

That's quite interesting.

ai think dis wae is mor cumplicaitid.

I think that way is much sexier...but that's just me.

The article sugjessts for us tew spell the way wordz trewly sownd in pronownseeyayshun, but faylz to properly depict the ryte method, which wood be like this.

I think it's called ebonix. If wordz were spelled the way they sownd it wood be a lot cooler yea, but also a little longer. Anyway I think its a good idea beecuz it gets the trew rewt meeneeng of the word expressed in a chill way like this.

example:

"Yesterday I went tew skewl, then cayme home tew have sum lunch, then I went tew the lyebrary tew study with a feeyew frenz, cayme back home, ayte uhgehn, then went tew bed. I didn't have any tyme tew eksersize, but tewmorrow I will."

that sucks

the article mentions that spelling is connected to etymology, so changing how things are spelled would make it much more difficult to derive the meanings of words.

I think you mean ebonics...and that's defined as a nonstandard version of English spoken by African Americans.

And this thread should not have been moved...jeez. Stupid Mods.

lol, could you imagine. i'd buy that magazine just for that. a little hard to read though.

first, leetspeak is actually more obfuscatory than english because of letter replacements.

with respect to the dvorak comment six or seven posts above, it's actually true that dvorak is faster than qwerty. most speed typists use dvorak keyboards in competition.

in a similar vein, while this isn't a different keyboard layout, it sure is cool. presenting DAS KEYBOARD

obfuscatory? nice word :p

i think . . the gold plated loud clicks would irritate me though.

having used one of the old back-in-the-day ibm keyboards for a long time, the clicking is music to my ears. also, the scooped f and j keys seem really tantalizing. the big put-off is the $90 tag.
