This is killing me!

Im an international student who's applying to Cornell, Stern, Dartmouth, and a few others for TRANSFER next year or the year after. I had horrible high school grades (2.99-3.08 GPA... 1810 SATs with pretty decent ECs).

now.... Im doing internships this summer and because of connections and such, i've managed to muster up some pretty good options and I wanted some opinions on which would look better for an Economics major at Cornell and the rest...

Choice 1: Barclays Bank.

Choice 2: Ministry of Finance.

Which one would you choose????

when you transfer they look mostly at high school

im sorry, that really didnt help me very much. Thanks anyway… anyone else?

It will depend on the substance of what you are doing in each internship.

really? haha well, its not exactly a managerial role or anything… very basic stuff. Watch & learn type of work…

Which would look more “fancy”?.. at first, I figured it was probably the Ministry of Finance but now im not really sure.

They don’t really care which “looks more fancy.” They understand that a person can learn to answer phones and file paperwork at a “not so fancy named” company just as well as at a “fancy named” company.

Your transfer decision (accepted or rejected) will be based on your current college courses, current GPA, and current professor recommendations. If you’re trying to transfer after one year of college, your SAT’s and High School record still come into play. If you’re trying to transfer after completing 2 full years of college, your high school record and SAT scores carry less weight.

I would recommend Barclay’s if you are looking at going into the private sector and Ministry of Finance if you are looking at public. Just a thought. Either choice looks good so it really just depends on how you intend to specialize.

Best of luck!

Excellent point, |divine. Thats what my dad thinks. And thanks for the heads-up, nysmile. I figured as much. any other takers?
