This is kind of ridiculous but...

Sometimes I get stressed out about college, but I am genuinely more worried about other people. It is hard when you are one of those kids who is expected to be smart, and when you screw up, you get crap about it...

It's like once you get there you have to maintain it.

I know a lot of you guys will think this is ridiculous but...
Does anyone know where I am coming from?

Yes
Yes
and
Yes!

I know how you feel. It's the same with me. Then I say, screw the world. They can all go die. They hold me at a higher standard than they hold themselves. Something is twisted about that.

The story of my life.

It's so ridiculous though, because then I start like agreeing with them. And it's like crazy psychological ickiness. I dislike it immensely.

yeah..i feel ya...its sucks even more when they're all like: its your responsibility to do so, and your duty and they trick you into more pressure b/c your a "role model" for others..load of bs i'll bet.

your NOT being ridiculous.

Oh my God! That is so true of me! People always expect highly from me and when I screw up, they are like: "What happened?" I hate the disappointment.

now that i think about it: don't they have something better to do then lay all this pressure on us?

Technically, perhaps we just bring upon ourselves, by like caring what they think?

yes..but frankly, i'm only human, and i like to think that i have someone else to blame

:D

Definitely understand.

I agree.

The most annoying thing is when other people try to compare themselves with you... I will never for the life of me understand how some people can be so concerned with other people's grades. Whatever happened to having personal standards of success?

Being the measure of your own achievement FTW

"Oh my God, how does it feel to get to get a 99 instead of 100?"

And then I ask them how they managed to cheat and only get a 70 ;)

I agree. I finally feel like I get something accomplished and then one of my parents or someone comes and says something that bumps my stress level way back up.

Starting to get annoying.

You just gotta shrug it off. When you get an A- instead of an A and somebody gives you crap about it say, "Well, mathematically an A- does nothing to my grade as compared to an A. You see, once you factor in x, y, z and realize that this is only .02% of my grade blah blah blah" and then jump into a really long AP Stats/AP calculus explanation. It doesn't have to be right, but nobody will call you out on it.

:( You are totally right.

I hate it when people expect you to be super smart and the expectations screw you over. It puts so much pressure on you that you underperform.
