This Is Us. Anyone watching?

The specific example was how the girl sitting with Randall said she’d always wanted to kiss “somebody like you” (I think I got the quote right). Randall was horrified and fled to his room. It wasn’t much later that Rebecca asked him how his day was. “Oh, fine!” he said, with a smile. Of course, that’s really on Randall, not Rebecca. She can’t read minds. I was like Randall as a kid - good student and kept everything bottled inside. I don’t blame my parents for not knowing what I was thinking. I remember my mom played 20 questions with me quite often.

I haven’t viewed this episode yet.

My kids aren’t that old yet, but they certainly remember things much differently than I did. Or frankly how they actually happened. My sibling has the same trait.

I don’t blame my parents for what they didn’t do or didn’t see. All parents do what they think is best.

I thought it was Randall’s birth mom in that photo at the end too. But still baffled about the vietnamese connection.

Can I just say that I am so glad y 'all have come around to Kevin??? Early in this thread, I think I might have been his only defender. The ones who seems to have it all often are the ones bottling things up.

My next-door neighbor love-hates this show. His wife texted me last night that they finally watched the season premiere and that it’ll be weeks before he can watch another episode. It drains him emotionally. I love to cry with it each week, though this week wasn’t too emotional for me. I thought six weeks without a phone was a little harsh for Tess. I hadn’t thought of Madison dying in child birth. Ugh. That’s horrible.

And I am totally with Toby. Those adoption stories rarely work out on TV. Looking at you, Parenthood.

The grandfather/granddaughter are in the US, not Vietnam. Presumably the old man emigrated after the fall of Saigon. I would not be surprised to see a Nicky connection.

@“Youdon’tsay” I’m with you. I’ve been a Kevin fan since the beginning and have mentioned my love for Kevin on more than one occasion!

The grandfather/ granddaughter are in the US and on a houseboat, I’m guessing in CA.

I watched tonight on nbc.com. OMG six 30-second commercials every 5 minutes! No cable, no DVR here so next week I’d better clear my calendar at 9!

I hope that Randall will do some BLM activism with Tess, it would help him as well as her. Yes, she grew up in a white bubble, so did he. They could both learn here.

Do you think Randall will do a DNA test in his search for his birth mom and find the connection to the Vietnamese granddaughter, who could be his half niece?

I’m on the fence on how I feel about the Toby/Kate adoption line. I am adopted. I am glad they are not different race child (well we don’t actually know the race of the birth dad) but it will be interesting to see if the birth mom follows through on this.

I was watching Mandy Moore scenes and there were some but not many showing her in full view. Do we know how far along she was when they filmed these? And yes the 8th grade Kate has slimmed down. I don’t remember Stuart from before.

I thought that Randall believes his parents missed so much of his experience as a black kid in a white family and in a pretty white environment, especially at the private school. The experience with Kate’s friend was one example. One of my kids went to Pitt and at his initial convocation, I was really surprised at how few students of color I saw. Pittsburgh and western PA in general are not very diverse.

My guess is 13 weeks. She announced her pregnancy on the day they resumed production.

Stuart was the boy who Kate kissed behind the bleachers, I think.

Yup. Episode 2 last season

We gave up cable and our digital antenna gets exactly one network station. Thankfully it’s NBC so I can watch This is Us in real time. Most everything else network I watch on the network app usually a week later when it unlocks. I’m pretty sure the woman in the photo was Randall’s birth mother. I have a whole elaborate story in my head that ties the grandfather to being the boy saved by Jack in Vietnam. But I also don’t think the timing works. TIU is bad at geography but pretty good at chronology. Will be interesting to see how that story plays out. I miss Nicky and hope they bring him back soon.

Add me to those wondering if Madison dies in childbirth, and Kevin ends up with Sophie after all. The second child of future Kevin could also be Sophie’s child / Kevin’s step child. Loved the way the pre-teen big 3 have grown. Also the weight lifting scenes. I was confused when the girl said she wanted to kiss Randall as someone like him. I actually thought at first she meant a nerd since she was going on about how smart he was. Later I realized she meant because he’s black - was that right? I liked the birth Mom but I’m thinking something will be off with her.

Yes. Ties into his comment about his parents missing things and why he needs to see a black therapist. The show is good about connecting these kinds of things.

And ties into Tess’ video about the teacher touching her hair.

Personally, I liked that he interviewed several therapists before proceeding forward. It was easy to see why he chose the one he did.

Wasn’t it Kevin who said his parents had a great connection but even they missed a lot? Not Randall? It was during the conversation in the garage with Madison.

Mandy Moore announced her pregnancy on Sept. 24 and is due “early 2021”.

I have always like Kevin BUT I’m now a little tainted now that I know that Justin Hartley dumped his wife in what seems to be a not very nice way!

I also thought 6 weeks was a bit harsh for Tess. I think she currently jives with her dad more than her mom.

I think the Katy/Toby “fight” over the diapers was purposeful. It allowed the possible adoptive mom to see them in a very natural situation - a disagreement - and to see how they handled it. Plus it reminded her of her deceased husband. It’s interesting that they are wanting to adopt so soon - Jack is still pretty young, right?

I’m really worried about Madison. I feel like the eating disorder and depression is setting us up for a not ok delivery.

Teenage Kate seems to look like a different actress. One we havent seen before.
