This Is Us. Anyone watching?

Looks like the same actress to me. She’s matured, gotten taller and thinner.

It’s the same actor. The puberty fairy visited all 3 young actors over the hiatus.

Good to know. i loved the teen and little Kate. Looking forward to seeing more of them.

Did anyone else notice that the test Kate took was not a pregnancy test, but an ovulation test? I rewound the recording to make sure.

Rats I fell asleep. Is there a recap somewhere or a link to the episode?

No, ML! Good catch.

jym, I think it’ll be up tomorrow.

Last episode until January!

Here ya go, recap

The recap got it wrong, too - they said it was a pregnancy test. I don’t think the show’s writers would make the mistake of using an incorrect prop, especially since you can easily see it’s an ovulation test when you look closely.

Good catch, ML. I just assumed it was a pregnancy test. We all knew Kate’s bf would figure significantly in her storyline.

I can’t believe that after 4 episodes we now have to wait til 1/5 for the next episode.

DH and I laughed harder than we have in ages at Randall’s disrobing scene. That was just classic.

The camera lingered on the box that said Ovulation test. Can’t figure out if Kate didn’t know the difference and thought she was pregnant but she wasn’t? or if she was trying to get pregnant thinking it would make the boyfriend love her? Or if she was using that instead of birth control? I also can’t remember when that scene where she told her Mom she didn’t want to go to NY to see Kevin’s play took place. Was that before the bad scene at the cabin or after? I liked the Randall scene but as soon as he said William’s name in the interview I knew someone would hear it and it would lead to his mother (dead or alive). The video going viral made more sense than the segment of the population of Philadelphia who watch a councilman’s daily (!!) podcast recognizing the name.

I would have rated last week’s episode as so-so, but usually when we get a so-so episode, there is something really good ahead and this week was no exception. So many layers to peel for all 3 kids. Last year the adult actors said the plan was for 6 seasons and they already knew the ending. Now I wonder if what looks to be a shortened season 5 due to covid & Mandy Moore’s pregnancy might lead to a season 7.

Thanks, Jerseychessmom

Season 5 was always planned as 18 episodes, same as 1-4. That has not changed. Not a reason to think the series will go beyond S6.

It seemed unrealistic to me that baby Kevin cried so much and never seemed to wake up the other two babies.

It bothered Baby Randall. He just internalized his frustration. ?

Malik still always looks like he is 12 to me!!!

I didn’t notice the ovulation test. That’s significant. I think maybe she will try to get pregnant - and then maybe finally realize he’s a jerk and seeks an abortion or when he finds out she does get pregnant he forces her to have an abortion.

I need Beth to get out of that kitchen.

Just caught up on all the episodes. I thought they were all good but some of the storylines just seem too farfetched.

I have a hard time buying the adoption story line. I just don’t think someone would knowingly pick Kate as an adoptive mother. She is morbidly obese. On top of that, people like to think if having their child with someone that can do things with them. Play sports, go for walks, get on the floor and play with them when they are little. Unfortunately, Kate doesn’t look like she can do any of those things. Not to say that she isn’t a great mother but I just don’t think someone would select her.

The Malik/Daysha storyline. How old is Malik? I thought he and Daysha were both in 9th grade last year? So he had his baby in 8th grade? It just seems like a very long term relationship for kids that are so young, especially with a baby in the mix as well. How does he possibly have time to be a straight A student, do an internship, have a girlfriend, and raise a baby all at the same time? And then he wants to go to an Ivy league school with a 3 or 4 year old in tow?

I also didn’t like that Randall’s mother is still alive. And the fact that he mentioned William as his Dad and not Jack. They are both his father but Jack is the one that raised him.

Is there any chance that Kevin’s co-star is somehow ties in with the vietnamese storyline? She appeared to be asian or asian-american.

I think 6 weeks for the phone was pretty harsh. I have 3 teens and I don’t know anyone that can take their phone from their kid that easily. It always comes with a huge fight.

A lot of it is farfetched. I tend to analyze more of these things as well but some here are more interested in going with the flow!
