This may be a silly question

But how catholic is Boston College? Yes, i understand its a jesuit university which is one of the main reasons i’m interested…but the only religious-type school that I’ve had a chance to visit and liked is Georgetown which had a sort-of secular vibe. I live in the south, so all the religious schools here are usually ultra-religous non-denominational. So, my question is, does Boston College feel more like Georgetown or in between Georgetown and a very conservative, strict school? Would I feel out-of-place b/c I’m not Catholic?

It feels more like Georgetown than like a Southern religious school. I know many non-Catholics who felt very comfortable at BC.

im an atheist and i currently attend BC. no one will push catholicism or for that matter, religion in your face at BC. for the guys on my floor, only a few of them go to church even though they were raised as catholics. so you probably won't feel left out.

the people i know here who are not catholics are very comfortable. most of the friends ive made here so far have been raised catholic but none of us ever go to church on our own or anything. parents weekend there was a big mass in oneill plaza for everyone to attend but you didnt have to if you didnt want to. definetly more of a gerogetown thing, i dont even notice its catholic until i see a cross in a classroom. not a big deal at all
