Ok so I haven't ever participated in any extracurricular sports since I came to the US. Now I really love soccer and wanted to join the school team. The problem is that I am not really versed in playing it. Since I'm starting a new school I'd like to know that does the sport registration thingy with your registration imply that you are being invited to tryout or will they teach you how to play soccer from scratch? Btw I'm a senior so will they take me on the team and do I need to tryout cuz I don't think I'm very good at it yet.
Please give me answers as I'll have to decide whether to pay the 100 $ fee for sports registration.

I highly doubt they'd teach you from scratch, especially soccer. If your not good then you won't make the team, if you are good then you will thats all I can say most of the time a sports registration means your trying out, if its a jv/varsity team you have to try out (on average).

thanks but do you think i should try out all the same? Also what can I get into easily? I've heard you can get into track without much training.

Talk to the coach. Find out of competitive the team actually is. In some places soccer is the hardest sport to make, in others anyone makes it. Also, start running now and get into shape. Juggle over an hour a day and find some people that you could pass and play with. I recently pulled my hamstring, but before that I have been running with my team every morning at 6 and play in the afternoon. I also play pickup games with anyone who is willing to play.

Soccer takes a lot of work and dedication, but it is worth it to me. Good luck.
