Hi guys, for my freshman year I was in China and played in one of the highest soccer leagues for high school (APAC which stands for Asia Pacific Activities Conference). I was one of the few freshman that made it and it really was a big deal! Unfortunately, I ended up snapping my knee ligament 2 months after tournament during a practice. This is when I moved to the US and started my sophomore year. I really wanted to try out for the team but couldn't because of my leg. I am a lot better now but still not fully recovered; should I join the team just to impress colleges? I'm afraid I'm going to end up getting hurt again but I really want to get into some good colleges and they always look at sports! Any ideas on what I should do?

If you have a true passion for the game go ahead but if you are just gonna do it to impress colleges then I would say no

^^^ So true!

Never join a sport just to impress someone or fill up time. You should have a true passion for the sport.

Play soccer! Lots of fun etc etc… But only if you’re recovered and good to go.

I mean, this kid obviously has some real passion for the game, and doing it to better chances into his/her dream school isnt terrible guys.
BUT I would wait (which season is soccer?) and then do workouts for the next coming season (in your junior year) and be sure to make varsity and do really well junior year and (though I dont know a lot about soccer or sports and college) I’m sure it’ll raise your chances significantly (if you’re really good) at the colleges you’re aiming for.

What about kids who dont really have any sport they are passionate about (or anything for that matter) should they not join clubs or do sports? Without those things getting into top tier colleges is a lot less likely.
