But is it possible to pursue two different graduate programs at the same time?

Outside dual-programs, no. Dual-programs would be those set up by the university to lead to the completion of two degrees “simultaneously” (MBA/MA, MD/PhD, etc.)

When you sign up for a graduate program, you often sign up with acknowledged exclusivity. Many frown upon you even working while you’re taking your program.

At two different schools, no. Most schools do have a variety of dual-degree programs, and many will create ad-hoc programs for those who specific interests - one of my old EE professors got 2 masters (Math and EE) en route to his PhD.

The only combination that is usually verboten is the double PhD - while some schools will allow you to do a second PhD in sequence after the first, I have heard of only one case where someone fot both at the same time. They will also disallow programs that overlap too much, to avoid the appearance of awarding twice for the same effort, and may disallow programs that do not intersect at all if you cannot provide a case for needing both skill sets.

What programs are you thinking of?
