This might sound silly but...

do you think it's alright to use a White-Out pen on the Uncommon Application, or should I just request another? I mean, it's not really messy or anything, I just don't want the admissions counselors thinking that I'm like not taking my time or something.

As you might realize, I'm nervous, though I'm sure White-Out wouldn't make or break me or anything like that. But I really want to go to the University of Chicago and I just want my application to be the best it can be.

Also, while I'm here, what is generally the better way to apply to the University of Chicago, online or on paper?

I think online is the best way to go for any college.

One of my friends got his uncommon app in the mail today. There's something about getting real, paper mail that makes everybody excited :-)

It sounds like everything today is being done online, and the paper app might be a tease. If you can send it in on paper and you WANT to send it in on paper (if you're applying to the U of C, you probably like books a lot, and you might feel more spiritually connected to a piece of paper than your computer screen), then send it in on paper. White-out would be a no-no, though.

When I applied to the U of C back in the stone age, I briefly considered applying via paper, but I realized that applying online was much, much easier.

You should do it online. It's probably easier for the admissions staff that way, and it's definitely easier for you.

As someone unsure about using the online applicatio, I can assure you it is a very organized way to apply. You can change things at any time, and if you like the look and feel of paper, you can print the application out through that. If you choose to do that, you can pint a fresh application to hand-write in, or you can type everything in, then edit and send it as a paper copy. I wouldn't send the white-out version though. If you insist on that sort of paper version, ask for another, though I advocate the online version in one form or another. Good luck!

Thank you!! I will just do it online. I get so uptight and stressed out about things, really it gets ridiculous. Thank you again! :)

No matter how you send it, they won't be feeling that paper. Last year, they started to scan all submitted materials, and they now read everything on a screen.
