this seems familiar...

so i've done this before, 2 times to be exact. but today, we had a snow day, and with potentially only 3 days left until admissions decisions are released, being left alone with my thoughts has not been the best. needless to say, i've kind of been freaking out. this is a final chance, and i promise to chance everyone back and let everyone know whether i get accepted, deferred, or rejected come friday. i go to a public high school in a very competitive school district. i'm out of state by the way! ):

I'm also a legacy. My mom, granddad, two of my uncles, and two of my aunts graduated from UNC. I'm hoping this helps me. UNC is my dream school, I've been raised a tarheel through and through. As you can tell by this super long post, I'm pretty much freaking out. Even though I'll know soon enough, please ease my nerves and help me know what to expect!!! Thankyou!!!!!! I'll chance back! (:

oh, and does anyone know when we hear on friday? like timing wise?

Your ECs sound good, and your SAT is decent, but not as high as the OOS average. Your GPA is low, even for an in-state student (I believe the average last year was 4.4-4.5ish for ALL students. The AP classes are good, and the legacy will definitely help. I think it is a little bit of a stretch, especially considering how many OOS students apply, but I could be wrong.

None of us know what time they’ll be out Friday. It might be Thursday at 11:59pm or during the day Friday.

only problem I see are the SATs  good luck!

thank you! my biggest concern is my gpa, but it’s not low for an in-state student because we have a weird weighting and a girl got in with a 4.2 last year…so yeah. good luck to everyone who applied! friday can’t come soon enough.

^lol your defensive replies towards people’s criticisms only goes to show that you are just posting your stats to somehow elevate a positive note about your chances. Don’t worry, I could tell that by the moment you posted your stats that you might have had a weird system of gpa conversion. Anywho…who’s ready for friday???.. I’m not :D

i mean, of course i would love for people to tell me i’m in if they actually think i am!! but i really just want honest answers, i wasn’t posting my stats to elevate a positive note about my chances. there aren’t many data points for out of staters with legacy, so i really don’t have a feel for how much it helps. i was just explaining that our system is weird, so it’s not super low. but once again, thank you so much everyone for chancing!

but i’m not ready for friday haha, yet am at the same time. i just want to know yes or no so i can move on either way!

I’ll be honest. All your stats fit the bill, BUT your test scores are low. Not insanley low, but low for OOS students. You still have a good shot, however, I feel like test scores play a large role in OOS acceptance.

From my school, the average ACT is 32 and SAT is 2240.

Polo, we can’t really second-guess someone else’s motives, especially based on a hastily written Internet post. Human beings are pretty complex, non? “What a piece of work is man,” etc. etc. etc.

CarolinaGirll, I’m the eternal optimist–just call me Polyanna–so take it from whence it comes. But I think you’ve got a good shot. The legacy thing should carry a lot of weight, IMHO.

Sorry, I wasn’t aware of the weird conversion process. Save for your SAT scores, I think you have a good chance.

honestly, act can be substituted for sat, and a 31 is pretty damn good if you ask me. When the OOS act avg is 32 (going by UVAorbust) i’d say you have solid chances all around! GOOD LUCK and if you have that much fam involved in the uni im sure it helps at least a little if not a lot:)

haha, well I see that I’ve stirred up the conversation (didn’t mean to be negative lol). I have noted tha OOS is more of stat and your chances are good…but when it comes to UNC out of state, it’s basically like the ivy league admissions–super selective if you know what I mean. Don’t know about legacy though. Anyways, one more day and I think we’ll all know, so don’t stress it. You have a good benefit with your stats. :)
