So my parents hired a tutor because they think this might raise my scores. And well whenever I work with the tutor, I always get most (usually all) of the questions correct. Like when we are doing the practice exercises or something similar to them. But whenever I take a timed test or just complete sections out of a test, I get almost everything wrong..

Probably curable! As a tutor, I see this frequently. You have to examine what is different when you work out loud. My bet: you probably go slower and pay more attention. The whole rhythm is different when you are explaining to someone else. I recommend that when you are working on your own, pretend that you have to explain the problem to a clever 5th grader.

Just a quick question:
Do you freeze up when you take the practice test?
And are you more relaxed when your tutor’s helping you?

Just wondering… 'cuz I used to have the whole ‘freezing up’ thing.
Whenever I practiced by myself I’d know everything, but then when I took a timed test, I’d freak out and my mind would just go- O.O

It helped me to think, “Okay, this is just a test… no biggie. I’ll take it, ace it, leave and then I’ll gorge myself on dark chocolate!”

I kinda zoned out during the end of the test and started hysterically laughing with 2 minutes left of section 8, and beginning of section 9(but section 9 was math so thank goodness, If i started laughing in the middle of CR section i wud have panicked…_

lol. Well just when my tutor gives these worksheets with 10 questins I usually get them all right. But once I take a practice time test, I just freeze up and I don’t know how to do it. This doesn’t really happen in the math section. Usually in the Reading and grammar

stop thinking about the clock, concentrate into the reading or writing, you have to practice timed test a lot in order to overcome the tick tock sound in your brain.I had that too,it get me very nervous,so I can’t answer the question.Just calm down and relax.
