Ok. This has been driving me nuts for a long time, but what are the keys to identifying the tone of the passage, especially if it is IRONIC or SARCASTIC?

I’ve heard that if the passage is about a certain culture or race, it probably has a positive tone to steer clear of offending certain races. So if even if you cannot figure out what the tone is, I would guess something positive rather than negative… hope this helps a little…

i need help on this too. I can never figure it out. I always think the tone is something else. I’m always kinda close…I get the general idea (I don’t pick something positive if it’s negative…but if there’s 2 positive words, I always pick the wrong one!)

Usually the passages aren’t going to be too “extreme” so I suppose that could be a hint? But I don’t think I’ve ever encountered an ironic or sarcastic passage on the SAT.
