Yesterday I was accepted to Bentley, but did not receive any type of merit. With that in mind, I am greatly anticipating what my financial aid package would be like. I’ve done the net price calculator which tells me I’d only be paying about $12k a year because my mom only makes a little above $30k, and I don’t receive any type of financial support from my father.
With my moms income and lack of merit, what do you guys think my financial aid package would be like?
Do you know if Bentley has seen any financial information for your father? It is quite common to count his income even if he gives you nothing or is no longer with your mom. It cuts deep but that is my understanding. If that is true then his income might cause a change in what you can expect.
I do not believe that Bentley is a full need meet school so it is unclear how they would handle it.
You’ll just have to wait a bit more for the actual letter to come in.
I hope you can get a package that allows you to attend.
My son did not get any Merit aid and we doubt we will get any FIN AID from them. We preferred the Merit aid because it is pretty much guaranteed money. FIN AID is not and fluctuates. The current budget proposed by the president would cut back on work study aid for students. It is quite possible that Aid you receive as a freshman can disappear in later years. If you cannot absorb the increase, then you just have to transfer out. Not good.
@MassDaD68 I haven’t spoken to my dad since I was 5, which means we don’t know any of his current information.
Bentley had me send in information because when there is a non custodial parent involved, the parent has to send in their information, but since I haven’t had contact with my dad, I had to send in a waiver form saying the last time I spoke to him etc, so they know that there is no contact whatsoever. Bentley also has my child support records so they know that my father has only paid about 5% of what he was supposed to over the coarse of 13 years.
I hope I get a somewhat decent package, because I just love Bentley, and couldn’t picture myself anywhere else!
My sons financial aid was posted on his portal monday, 3/27. We were told it would be available this week.
We got our package in the mail yesterday along with a free Bentley T-Shirt.
I got a free t shirt in the mail today, but no financial aid package. Does this mean I did not get any financial aid?? The portal says all of my documents are in but I haven’t heard anything yet.
Our FIN AID package was also the portal. It was listed under the “Financials” tab. Click that on and check. It is possible the mail has not brought yours yet or they have not done it.
At a min, they should send you a letter saying you qualify for $5,500 in unsubsidized Federal loans. We received that letter from every college we applied to. It is basically a confirmation that you got zero Fin Aid.
