I have not seen an opportunity that has referenced The Economist yet.

The Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarship authority in my country have higher ups from a lot of the top US universities so they use the US News exclusively, copy paste the rankings. “If you get into top 30 you get a scholarship” based on the major you are pursuing.

The MBA Scholarship authority also controls the wealth fund of the nation which has offices in Europe and most of the higher ups have exclusive exposure to European schools so they use the FT exclusively, again, copy paste the rankings.

A lot of banks in the nation refer to US News especially for jobs requiring business majors for job opportunities.

The oil sector refers to US News.

The investment sector refers to FT.

So the rankings used depend really on the alma mater of the majority in charge.

Besides, the proof is in the pudding, does anyone believe that Haas is the no. 1 MBA program in the US?

Just ask yourself why RML loves to bring up the Economist ranking and claims that the FT is “garbage”. (p.s. Haas is ranked no. 28 this year by FT).

the prestige, I’m siding neither ranking game (though I admit I tend to agree with The Economist’s criteria and methodology than FT’s.) I brought it up to clarify on something with aalba. It’s obvious that you do have a very dirty mind. For me, US News is the most reliable ranking, when it comes to MBA ranking. But even US News isn’t perfect. For example, Whilst I thought Yale-SOM is a fantastic business school, I seriously don’t think that it is superior to Duke-Fuqua or Michigan-Ross, thus isn’t deserving of the #10 placement.

aalba, thanks for answering my question. I’d list down MBA schools that run for one year (next time) so we can compare them. As it stands, INSEAD and IMD are the best choices. Said and Judge -should- fall right below them. But since your list is long, let’s try to look at the others. As a head start: A friend of mine who went to the Norwegian School thought it wasn’t a great business school. But I’ll post about those 1-year MBA programs soon.

RML, thanks for the advice. I think you are right with INSEAD, IMD, Oxford and Cambridge on the top of my list. Hoping Cambridge moves up and Oxford stays within the top 20 when i end up applying.

I am in a difficult spot as I am US student that applied to Said as I felt it was one of the highest ranking schools I could get into. Does anyone know if its considered a top finance school? I know they have a pretty hardcore Masters in Finance which is what originally drew me to this school.

OP, I guess you should look at these schools, as these are the only ones that made in the top 30 for both league tables. The ones in bold letters are those schools whose MBA program is run for one year only. Please take note that they’re all in Europe.
