THR (Trojan Housing Renewal) ?

PBKmom: Today's the day....da, da, da, dun............Can't wait to see what my D gets. Her fourth and fifth choices were Parkside then Cardinal Gardens. She is also in the running for Tuscany, which is her absolute #1 choice even over Webb, but she doesn't find out until later this month if she gets that one. Let me know how it goes for your D. :)

There is an article in the Daily Trojan regarding the Web housing glitch yesterday--not allowing students to choose their roommates. Apparently, it's all been fixed. As of yesterday, 580 students had their housing contracts.

it's definitely not fixed. :(

***. can anyone confirm their rooms?

D had her contract time at 3:30. It wouldn't let her pick her housing without paying a $30.00 fee. I had to go in and do this for her and thus, it created 2 apps and now she can't register for housing. When I went to contact USC the were very rude to me (not the usual) telling me I shouldn't be in my "d's" app. Well, guess what? I WOULDN'T have been if it didnt ask her for money! I have the credit cards not her. I am not happy with this process and now D has to wait until tomorrow to get this figured out seeing as they can't release any info to me. They can certainly take my money though. :(

i wasn't able to confirm my room on Monday right after my roommate got the room...but i got an email tonight from TrojanHousing and was able to...actually, i just did it right now.

Ugh. I guess I'll have to make a call tomorrow.

Looks like my daughter and her friends are definitely in Cardinal Gardens...they were hoping maybe some rooms in Webb or Troy had been held back for people signing up today, but no such luck.

My daughter's own time to sign up isn't until Thursday, but she's supposed to be able to confirm her room now since one of her roommates listed her...but the system won't let her "confirm" yet. The entire thing has been one big frustration for them.

For those considering USC, this is not how things are typically run at USC -- we've been very impressed by how friendly, helpful and professional everyone there is -- this has been an aberration and I certainly hope they fix it quickly.

Oh, I found out that to confirm rooms, you have to accept the contract. The "confirm room" link doesn't work.

My first said that too (on at 12:55. My time was 12:45) and then I went to different parts of the website and then it let me through. Did you click all the links you can? this website's super glitchy so..

Yeah, I got it to work. Sometimes links show up and sometimes they disappear.

how bad is it to get la sorbonne? is that an ok place to live?

it seems pretty nice, and the location isn't bad...the only problem my future roommate and I had with it was that the unit is just too small person-wise, and we definitely wanted to be around a lot of people.

^ oh by the way, i didn't mean "unit" as in one apartment...i meant that the building as a whole didn't have that many people.

Well, "D" finally got her housing sometime today. Wound up with a 1 bdrm at Century. Anyone have any experience with that one? :)

Just wondering, does anybody know anything about the max cade house? I thought about living there, but the neighborhood seemed a little iffy (right on hoover, my roommate asked me if i wanted a single or wanted to live.. urr) it's not a popular choice, is it?

Question not really related to housing:

Can discretionary be used at the dining halls? Does it cost more, or is everything done in the same way?

Yeah you can use discretionary. It's just an exorbitant amount. I forget the exact amounts.

If you plan to eat in the dining halls occasionally, but aren't enrolled in a full meal plan, you can purchase the Community 25 or Community 50 plan which gives you 25 or 50 meals, plus some dining dollars.

Overall, each meal on these plans costs a few dollars less than if you were to purchase it with discretionary or regular cash every time you went in. This type of plan is nice if you live off campus, but still want to go to the dining halls a few times a week.

$9.97 for breakfast and lunch, $11.33 for dinner. after running out of meals and lots of Parkside dinners (back when you couldn't use meals where ever, whenever), you get to know the prices haha.

if they offer it for sophomores, i'm debating whether i should go for a full meal plan next year, or just the Community plans. dining dollars are ridiculously convenient, and at the rate i would usually spend dining, constantly adding discretionary could get expensive...but it all depends on how much i feel like cooking. maybe Ramen? :p
