I heard USF didn’t advance 6 BSMD students despite meeting the requirements. Didn’t anyone hear anything on that ?
USF BS/MD requires an interview by the Morsani SOM. Maybe they flunked there?
That is why an interview during undergrad is always a wild card and I dont think of it as a real BS/MD.
Yes, they were rejected after the interview. 4 years back I recommended someone not to take for same reason and they went with expensive GW.
Basically they take everyone who meets the benchmark GPA into the program. There is no formal application.
So if there are more students than what they want and they all meet the other requirements like Service hours, clinical, MCAT score etc. then some kids are eliminated during the interview.
I am not a fan of the BS/MD programs where there is an interview.
By the way the GW BA/MD even though expensive is more of a guaranteed and doable program with no MCAT. They do have MCAT now but no minimum requirement. So if money is not an issue, and it is not that great of an undergrad or med school it is still much better than the BS/MDs with interview requirements.
That’s my i pushed GW since I know my friend (college junior) is loaded I think USF has higher MCAT requirement.
USF is an Early Assurance Program, not a true BS/MD.
I advise my students to think twice before applying there.
The interview is not a formality there.
Any thoughts about FIU BS/MD Program and FAU BS MD? Are either of them suggested for OOS applicants? It seems like USF is conditional based on interview and is a wise suggestion from here. Appreciate any insight. Thank you
Hello
We don’t have any practical experience of college experience at AMC / Sienna. However my daughter got into 5 BS / MD programs last cycle and AMC - Sienna was one of the them. We can share essay , interview / MMI experience if interested . My kid is now attending REMS Scholars program ( BS - MD) at University of Rochester.
My kid got in this program ( FAU) but had a non impressive interview experience with them. Interview per her was a bit of joke/ non serious , it was more of a marketing pitch on the program and FAU.
you may be referring to some other program though
Also… about FAU… They also have a med school interview during undergrad. And 1 or 2 students out of a total of 9-10 do not make it to med school. Just FYI
Thank you , this is helpful and will reach out
Is the deadline for Tulane University (in regards to its Pathway to Medicine Program) due on Nov 15th or is it the undergrad deadline?
FIU is more of an EAP program.
FAU is an upcoming medical school.
It has an interview, which used to be a formality.
But as @Park1212 mentioned, he is aware of 1-2 students not making it after the interview.
You are invited to apply to TPM after you submit your undergrad application.
You should apply by the Early Action deadline to have a shot at getting an invite.
Is Case Western PPSP in Medicine due on December 1st (regular decision)? I thought it was due by the early action deadline (November 1st).
On common app, it states, “If you are applying to the Pre-Professional Scholars Program, you should select Regular Decision, and you will need to submit your application by December 1. You will be notified by February 1 of your finalist status for the program. If you are not selected as a finalist, you will have an opportunity to be considered Regular Decision.”
Plus on the website it states that the deadline is December 1st.
Is there a true advantage to submitting the application by November 1st, even if the college states that applications should select regular decision?
PPSP deadline = Dec 1.
Even if you apply by Nov 1, you need to select regular decision.
All applications received by the deadline are given equal consideration.
When are interviews sent out for the MSSU/KCU BS/DO program? Also, are UMKC’s interviews virtual this year? If possible, what mainstream BS/MD programs are planning to hold in-person interviews?
University at Albany, one of the feeder schools, has indicated they are no longer accepting applications for its BS/MD program with Upstate.
This seems strange as Upstate had already reduced the number of feeder schools from 11 to 6 for this year.
It is likely that this cancelation may indicate a more serious rethink by Upstate about the entire BS/MD program.
Does not bode well.
Question from 2024 applicant - so far got admission into UPitt, VCU. No news on honors or others yet. GPA 4.2 W , SAT 1570 and have few research programs with 1 publication, NMSC semi finalist and good hospital, community volunteering along with shadowing.
If I am looking to apply Case Western with UG preference considering BSMD is a high competition, any suggestions on the EA deadline/RD deadline for CW? Should I try checking the option for BSMD
For Georgetown, the admission %s for EA, RD seems to be close. I am not plng to ED to any however will it be better to apply RD along with a fair pool of applicants considering my GPA
I was looking into the LECOM BSDO and confused as it has multitude of feeder schools and application to LECOM is rolling and separate. Should I submit an application to LECOM now or apply first to UG and wait to be admitted into UG first? Of the feeders, so far I’m applying to St. Bounaventure, Syracuse, RIT, Siena and have already applied to 2 of them, what is the process to apply for the LECOM BSDO? Is there any of the feeders near the East Coast that any one can sugest for this program? Thank you for the help as it is quite confusing
Hi!! I am novice user here and don’t have enough posts to DM you directly. I would appreciate if you can DM me. I am looking for help for my son who is a high school junior and is considering applying for BSMD programs next year. Any interview tips would be of great help…
