Thread for BSMD 2020-2021 Applicants (Part 1)

Typically, between 18-25k only. Drexel BSMD net cost will be around 500k+ with 25k award.

Regular route MD fills nearly 95% seats in US medical schools. How can you ignore this fact. BSMD is tiny, merely 5% and shrinking.

Thx

If any, BS/MD seats are stable and even growing in foot print. Ignoring the 24 odd seats lost for both NU HPME and WASHU combined for their own reasons, consider Penn State growing by 10 or more seats, Case Western by 5 seats, Upstate by some phenomenal number over the years, Pitt by 5. Also some in state only programs opening up like Minnesota and Rutgers (main campus) with 10 seats each. Others may follow suit.

IMO,

  1. RICE Baylor is not worth applying with 6 seats only(3 TX residents, 3 OOS)
  2. REMS ( only 10-15 seats) tough to get an acceptance.
  3. BU SMED ( low UG GPA 3.2 with C grades allowed, low MCAT threshold to matriculate to BU SM). An expensive BSMD not worth the cost. Instead try regular route MD.
  4. Brown PLME is tough to crack for ORMs.
  5. CWRU PPSP tough to get an interview.
  6. PITTS GAP high UG GPA requirements.

Any tips for the Toledo test? I donā€™t want to get too low of a score and retake gen chem 1 when I already have a college credit for it

Iā€™ve checked all my folders. Maybe itā€™s because I use yahoo?

I know ā€¦

we didnt get any emails either. only got acces to rice portal, did anyone get any emails/communications from baylor before this? i am confused as well. guess, will keep waiting.

Appreciate taking time to put your thoughts on these programs

Yes your reasoning for Rice Baylor with 3 OOS seats makes sense still do not understand why Case is more difficult to get interview than Upitt. ? is it GPA or the med school

It was not. Two 25- 30 mins sessions with two ad com members. D said it was a regular format. Hope this helps.

Anyone had their BU medical faculty and undergrad faculty interview yet? Can you please briefly describe what can be expected? Conversational type or curveball question/answer type? And how long can it be expected to last? Thanks.

rems: 1300 applicants, 50 selected for interview, 10 actually join

We did not hear rejection from Baylor, but we got an email from Rice that said not selected for interview.

thanksā€¦ no email yet from rice or baylor. rejections might be happening in batches.

one more thingā€¦ did anyone get interview yet, or only rejections so far?

Hey, did you end up receiving a UIC GPPA interview? No news for meā€¦ Is it a rejection already??? Maybe not crossing 1500 is disqualifying us.

I got an interview for UIC GPPA, I had it on Tuesday. But yeah from what I know interviews are over, sorry. They interviewed 150. But under 1500 definitely doesnā€™t totally disqualify you, I didnā€™t break 1500 either so donā€™t lose hope.

Are you Illinois resident?

I got a REMS Interview REQ as test optional but idk how itll impact me in cutting from 50 to 10-15. Does anyone know if im kind of screwed now? I have really good extracurriculars (tons of research) and gpa is solid.
