Three weeks long winter session offered?

Hi, I’m an accounting major freshman, DA to Kelley. I’m originally from Seoul so it’s kind of pricy for me to fly back to Seoul for three weeks during the winter break. I would like to take one 3 credits class during my winter break, do anyone know if IUB or IUPUI offer winter session? Or any other college offers three weeks long winter session near IUB? It could be other state, I just cannot afford the cost of transpacific flights.

No colleges offer classes between late December to early January.

You should talk to international students on IUB to survive those 3 weeks. You can share housing and cook together.

University of Kentucky offers Winter Intersession and usually a decent selection of courses but if you’re OOS you’ll pay more for the 3 credits than a round trip to Seoul, plus figure housing, etc etc. Probably not worth the effort.

@peterparker16:

Here is what I would suggest.

  1. Take half the cost of going back to Korea and see some stuff. A Pacers game in Indy, or a Cavs game in Cleveland. Or the Holiday college tournament in Indianapolis.
  2. Again, budget half the cost of going back to Korea and maybe just get a cheap airfare on Allegiant Air out of Indy and go somewhere warm and chillax, like Florida or Arizona.
  3. See if any WGU courses will transfer to IU. I believe some of the basic stuff will and you can do them at your convenience,even within the 3 weeks your were referring to.

I would choose choices 1 or 2 if I were you. There is more to college and getting an education than just taking courses.

Sometimes classes get in the way of your education. Your parents will surely understand. You saved them half the cost of coming home.

The thing is, a round trip Indy to Seoul is $1700-1800, so he doesn’t have much money to work with to begin with. So suggestions 1 and 2 are very good and definitely within budget. Chicago would also be a great choice for a few days.

I suggest that you contact the IU Office of International Services to discuss possibilities. I’m sure that many international students choose to stay in Bloomington over breaks. Their website is ois.iu.edu. Good luck!
