Are there any students (or ex-students) on CC who are or have actually been one of the tour guides on a college campus? If so, what advice do you have for high school students when asking questions on a campus visit? Do you have any really GREAT questions that you've been asked? What about questions that you might have been asked that you wanted to say "Did you really just ask that"? And, lastly, were you given any "What Not to Say" guidelines by your school prior to being a tour guide? I am going on college visits with my niece during Spring Break and it would be great to have some different perspective on campus visits.

I used to do tours for my department, and I’d just say don’t ask questions you can find the answer to with a simple google search.

Try not to ask absolute questions (Is there stuff to do on campus?). Instead ask more subjective questions (What sorts of things do people typically do during the time they’re not working?).
