Thurston Hall

I think we have disproved the rumor that Thurston is on some sort of list of most sexually active dorms in the nation. However, the rumor hasn't been dispelled that Thurston does actually live up to this (positive or negative, you decide) hype. Anyone have any insight into whether this is a legitimate defining characteristic of Thurston?

use common sense…thurston is a 9 floor building that houses over half of the freshmen class…so of course it will be a social dorm…will u be able to sleep, yes…will u get ur work done, yes…but will u hear music and people screaming from 10pm-2am give or take a few hours on thurs, fri, and sat night yes…but it is what is and I would not have wanted to live anywhere else as a freshman but thurston

I would not want my kid in Thurston. I know I am going to get in trouble for this. but you really need to be able to focus, keep your eye on the prize, and know this ahead of time. too many distractions.

i think its a bit naive to judge thurston, especially as parent. to sayd that u are unable to stay focus, keep ur eye on the prize, and u have to many distractions, all by living in thurston is a bit rediculous…its saying that i, when i lived in thurston, couldnt do any of those things u listed…but i obtained a 3.8 gpa freshmen year…and i know many who did better…theres a place called the library where people, who live in any dorm, usualy goes to study and do work anyway…thurston is no animal house…but lets face it, this is college whether u can accept it or not…potomac is the same way, and in fact, every residence hall has its social life…just my opinion

S did very well academically living in Thurston & I’m not even sure he studied at the library at all. It depends on how committed the student is to getting their work done, not on where they live. A student can find all sorts of distractions wherever they are.
