My question is whether or not the TI-89 calculator is allowed on examinations in all math classes. If it isn't, does anyone have any idea where it would be disallowed? Thanks.

all calculators are banned from the university of florida

just kidding, but if your child plans on taking just lower level math classes, it makes no sense buying a expensive calculator since they won't be able to use it. a simple scientific will do, if you want to do a quick check on something in class or at home. I was really upset how my high school teachers stressed on how we will all need a graphing calculator and I come here and they say we're not allowed to use one at all.

lol...while an 89 isn't allowed, it's rather useful with upper level math. While not technically allowed on tests, it's not a bad idea to have it around.
