The Ti-89 is worth it's weight in gold. I discussed some of its advantages with you back in another thread, so I'll leave it at that.

def get the ti-89 if ur buying a new calc. if u have extra $ to spend, get the ti-89 titanium cause it has extra memory and most importantly, an in built usb port which makes file transfer a lot easier. i dont think there's a new version coming out since the titanium came out fairly recently.

Does anyone know the real difference between Casio 9850 and TI-89

What are the measures of the ti-89???

Long pdf with information on just about all the common graphing calculators out now.

http://www.rskey.org/buyguide.pdf

For as is now, I am only buy the calculator of Math 2c.
I can't use the calculator at school, because it is forbidden to use it.
Is Ti-89 then still worth the buy?

my teacher for calc told me to get a TI-89, as we will all learn together how to use it very well.

Should I get the normal or titanium?

Can someone tell me the advantages this Calculator has? I mostly won't know how to use it.

anyone??

Bump.......

please respond fast

r u not allowed to use any graphing calcs or just the ti 89? i still think the 89 is a very good buy because its abundant in features, especially the much loved solve and factor functions.

No I am not allowed to use it.
The minister of education said it isn't fair to the poor people who cannot afford this expensive calculator.
But everyone CC tells it is very handy for SAT II, and that I should buy it
But then again I am only going to buy it for the test, not for school

You can use it throughout college as well, especially if you undertake a relatively rigorous program. At that point you'll probably use Mathematica as well, but that's not very handy in terms of tests and portability.

it is very good for the sat 2 and will serve u well in college.

Hi. When is it a good time to buy a graphing calculator like the TI-89? Or, perhaps, what class level?

Buy the Ti-89 for calculus level work (or for the math IIC exam). It's particularly useful for the AP calc tests.

Thanks. What about precalculus? Is it any helpful for that class?

A Ti-89 is only about $30-$50 more expensive than a Ti-84, at least where I live. It's really not a huge difference, so if you were going to get a new calculator anyway you might as well get the 89. If you have an 83 or 84 that works I wouldn't say it's necessary unless you have money to burn.

Technically? Yes. But you're probably prohibited from using it on tests. Also, while it can pretty much do any problem in precal, it's not that much better than the Ti-83 for your purposes.
