Time Deadline

OK, so it's getting down to the wire for EA deadlines...but I was wondering if there's a specific time deadline to submit my app today? Like, I just need to re-read everything one more time, so I still haven't sent it in, but does it need to be in by 11:59:59 pm Nov. 1st or anything? Just making sure...

Pretty sure 11:59:59 is fine :]

but if you live on the west coast, it'd have to be in by 9 pm [because of the time zone difference]
[i'm not sure if that's right, though]

no, the common app website says that they understand people live in different time zones and won't take this into account.

The "Submit" button goes yellow... then nothing happens. Is it frozen because of the volume of requests?

EDIT: Nevermind, opened it up in a different browser (was using Google Chrome) and found out that I'd mistyped the date (I'd copy-pasted 10/01/2008 instead of 11/01/2008). To my annoyance, since this problem delayed me for submitting it for an hour, the "My Colleges" page says I submitted it 11/02 instead of 11/01, even though it's still 11/01 on the West Coast. I guess they do go with Eastern times. Oh, well.

I as well was wondering about the time zone differences, but haven't seen anything written anywhere about that. Is it right on the CommonApp home page?

All else fails, I suppose calling the school can't hurt.

if you click 'help' on the common app and 'application/admission info' then #2 addresses time zones.

"Knowledge Base
Common App FAQs > Application/Admission Information >
Do time zones make a difference on the day of the deadline?

No. Living in a different time zone does not affect your application on the day of the deadline. Institutions recognize that students live in different time zones. "

"Do time zones make a difference on the day of the deadline?

No. Living in a different time zone does not affect your application on the day of the deadline. Institutions recognize that students live in different time zones."

That still isn't as clear as it could be. Does it not make a difference in that all students must get in by the same time, globally, or does it not make a difference in that each time zone has the same local time?

I think the latter ^.

it says that it was "downloaded 11/2/2008", even though i submitted it yesterday.
does it take a while for it to load or something?
does that mean i'm late?????

For most schools, November 1st is a "soft" deadline for early applications--You just need to get part of your app in by then, and the school will create a file for you. The rest of the app needs to get in within a reasonable amount of time... Most schools have a hard deadline of November 15th.

Omfg, I have the same issue too. But then I look at the supplement and it says 11/01. I submitted both at the same time so why does common say 11/02??

Someone clarify this please before I have a heart attack >_____>

lol dont worry, you guys arent late.
i have a friend who submitted about a week ago, and the same "downloaded" sign came up. im not perfectly sure but it means that the college computer has now downloaded ur file from the common app.
