Time it takes to get from building to building

gah I had to make the Eschool (Olsson) -> mcleod walk in 10 minutes to get from DiffEq to Philosophy discussion first semester. That sucked hard. I don't think I got there on time once, that walk easily took 15 mins but thankfully I had the best TA ever and there were like 6 kids in the discussion so it was ok.

Take out lunches: basically they give you a box the sixe of a to-go box at a restaurant (like 12"x2" or so??) and you could fill it with up to 2 entree's + whatever else you want. You could also take 2 small drink cups, utensils salt/pepper, etc. The dude at OHill is a sandwich nazi though... he will not let you get two sandwiches unless you are quite ninja-like.

AHEM. THIS was my 757th post. give it up for the 757 - best area code ever

Whats wrong with getting two sandwiches. clogging the line?

BTW, good to see you back ehiunno.

so just go to newcomb they'll make you 2 sandwiches if you want. no one actually knows that you're only supposed to take 2 entrees either. pretty funny. at worst you stuff it full of newcomb pizza, salad, cookies... lol.

You could always stuff Newcomb food into your dirty shoes and socks if you run out of room since it would probably taste the same anyways (or better).

There is some rule at OHill where they won't let you have more than one sandwich to go. I have no idea why. Its really lame. No one enforces it except the creepy ninja-hippie with the ponytail who works the register though, so if he isn't there you should be ok. The sandwiches at OHill are sooo good, but the newcomb ones are bland and boring.

Actually that is good news for me. I ate the Newcomb sandwiches and they were tastless. I figured it was just the way caf food was.

Nice to know OHill is better. Does that apply to dinner too?

How far is it from McCormick?

O-Hill food pretty much trumps Newcomb's, except for maybe the pizza. And if you live on McCormick Road, you will be eating most of your meals at O-Hill (less than 5-minute walk). Most first-years do. Enjoy it while you can haha.

mccormick is about center between the two so go to ohill. Just about everything is better but the pizza. The sandwiches at OHill are great. Lots of bread selection, lots of different meats, cheeses, toppings, and sauces, AND they toast it for you. Yum.

OHill is significantly closer to Alderman than Newcomb isn't it?

Yes, O-Hill is right in front of Webb and across the street from the astronomy building. Newcomb is right behind Peabody Hall (Dean J's lair) and about 3 minutes away from the lawn.

Ok, so I'll be close to better food. I remember checking out Newcomb when I came down for a tour, but hadn't checked out OHill. As a side note, what is breakfast like?

newcomb breakfast is pretty low quality... i would avoid that (though, if you're hungry enough, you won't notice)
just think... mass produced eggs... yum... not
newcomb brunch is usually -decent- though

my roommate just keeps milk in her mini fridge and buys cereal to eat in the morning. i try not to wake up before 11 which is when they start serving lunch anyways.

Although some may disagree, eggs are surprisingly easy to ruin. I guess I'll just take what I can get, I like 3 squares a day. I hear Bodo's is good...

db123: yeah that's pretty standard when it comes to forums and such, and I haven't been paying attention but I'd like to quote a particular post and have it cite the post/poster

but anyway back on topic....

also along the newcomb breakfast thing, basically all I can enjoy there are the omelets

Yeah I had french toast there once. Not great. As for the eggs, take from the middle or top. But I can do eggs, cereal, and fruit, and be fine.

whazoom

it works as follows

Does anyone get "creative" with their meals? Am I the only person who takes stuff from the salad bar to add to their pasta?

No. The salad bar goes on to my sandwiches, pizza (yes), breakfast, pasta, tacos, chicken, whatever. It makes Newcomb sandwiches good, IMO.

My Orientation Leader said that Newcomb had an "international food" section, but he also said that meals have less variety during the summer. Upon his saying this, I immediately hoped that I would be seeing something along the lines of curries, Malay coconut rice, Middle-Eastern pastries and Romanian appetizers during the school year. I guess not??
