<p>This might sound stupid, guess i am... but i took a year off after high school, i.e. I graduated this year and I'm applying to colleges this fall... Now the commonapp asks that any educational interruptions be ticked off at the 'education' section.</p>
<p>There are two options:</p>
<p>A) did/will take time off
B) did/will take a gap year</p>
<p>which one do I fit in?</p>

<p>I’m in the same boat and I chose “did/will take a gap year.” Taking time off implies an interruption in your high school education, not a gap between high school and college.</p>
<p>Whatever option you tick, you’ll be asked to upload a document, i.e. an explanation of your circumstances. There is NO text box you can write in instead. Which means that a longer explanation/full-blown essay is expected of you.</p>
<p>Other thing, Just a last question, I assume this other essay should be 400-600 words, and be narrative? I can’t see that happening, but it could be a chance to say more about ourselves. What do you guys think?</p>
