Hi!
I’m a transfer applicant applying to mostly LAC’s (Haverford, Hamilton, Swarthmore etc.)
I took voice lessons for several years and pursued voice at summer programs in high school (although I’m not listing those on the CommonApp this time around due to space).
I have several videos of me singing Italian art songs in 2016-2017 that I’m considering submitting as an arts supplement (you can’t tell they are older videos, and I don’t have time or resources to re-record the videos).
I’ve read one shouldn’t submit a supplement unless your work is really good, as mediocre supplements could harm you.
Would anyone be willing to listen, and tell me honestly if it’s good enough to submit and not harm me?
This will be general in nature, but I’d say that if your singing reflects talent within adherence to form, then its submission could not hurt you. I think we’d all be interested in listening, but I’m not sure we could offer you a better understanding of your singing than you have at this stage. Best of luck with your applications.
Hi everyone! Thanks for the responses. I can actually still submit after the main application.
I understand, but would anyone be willing to look at it just as a basic common-sense pair of eyes – (e.g. I can hear a tiny vocal crack in one video! Am I being perfectionist, or is it super noticable? And, I wave my hands around awkwardly! How bad does that look?)
I don’t have a voice teacher at this time (and my last one was so sweet I believe she’d tell me anything I put out there is great – lovely, but not what I need right now).
