I am self studying these two, and I was wondering what are the best books and means of preparation for these two (well more for env. sci.)

Right now I usually do 2 chapters a week in Halliday and Resnick for E and M and I read about 4 chapters per weekend in the Barron's prep book for Environmental Science. I will be finished with the initial readings of each curriculum by the end of march. Is there anything else I should do, especially for APES? Some people say the smarty pants guide is good but I haven't been able to find it anywhere...and is the APES exam graded as generously as AP Bio? They have the same format so I was wondering if the same "70 out of 100" rule for the MC is enough for a 5.

yo man, u dont gota study for apes, its a BS exam. just keep reviewin **** in fisics, and mayb hit up a barrons book to master stuff. otherwise, u b good

really? I see some of the practice barron's questions in APES and they're rather hard...we gotta know government, bio, and chem...also there's so much information it's so hard to remember it all...surely you can't be serious? You mean we don't have to write essays with "theses" in the FRQ? All we do is jot down whatever we know?

All I can say for APES is do EVERYTHING in your power to completely study your butt and such off! It is the hardest AP test i've ever taken and i got a 2 on it (and for that reason i took no ap this year b/c i have a HUGE resentment against collegeboard.) But anyways...I knew all of what was on the exam. Actually, my teacher last year that taught me showed me my step by step breakdown of how i got a two. It turns out I missed 3 on the multiple choice section (i'm not quite sure it was evil) and got all of the free-responses wrong, THOUGh i answered them with mostly the correct material. They're just really random and some are like ,"covert btu's to this and explain the hydrologic process in terms of steam." and you just sit there and cover your eyes and go SCREW the college credit!. But, if you prepare as absolute humanly as possible, you should be able to wing it and get at least a 3. My friend got a 5 no studying, i have NO idea. It comes with either amazing amazing luck or amazing amazing cramming! For me, it just didn't work either way. You should be fine though work hard~!

woah jeremy LOL I dont know what you are talking about, if you got 97 out of 100 on the APES MC then you should have had an automatic 5 or at least a 4 if you really got a 0 on the FRQ....

who should I believe? Is it hard like that or is it easy like the structure of the AP Bio exam?

They curved the test EXTREMELY harshly last year, my friend got near perfects on both so naturally she got a 5 evil little thing lol. maybe this year'll be bettah.

LOL wow I just got smartypants and this exam is gonna be a joke...it's like AP Bio all over again except this time I know a greater percentage of the material before studying LOL

for the APES smartypants book, if you read one comment from amazon, the poster says the book only covers about 3/5 of the necessary material.

also on amazon beware of publishers and people associated with the book commenting on it. you can usually tell if the only reviews they've had deal with only one company.

Well, I have barron's too...so I have all of the material covered. I am just relieved that the exam is set up just like Bio (except MC is not multiplied by 0.9) so that means all I need is a raw score of 70 on the MC and 35 on the FRQ.

ok i would believe you guys about barrons if i never read amazon, but guys comeone why is anybody studying with barrons (maybe just maybe smartypants rating is overrated) but barrons has 1 star, it was rated as terrible and for that fact so is princton. So y is anybody using it??? are people on amazon nuts? Barrons has a lot of good reviews (calc, history, and many other things) but i dont think env. sci the barrons book is a good choice. Please anybody tell me if im wrong i think this exam is very unpopular on this board, im even surprised people are answering on this thread i though nobody ever took this exam for some reason despite its simuarity to biology.
Anyway please comment on the env. sci. books. I really want to here some opinions. Are any of you using a good tetbook? maybe that's better? or does it tell you a lot of non tested material?
Does barrons tell you a lot of useless material not tested?
