I got placed in a forced triple this year. I'm in a double room, but they shoved another bed in there. When I did an overnight during the school year, double rooms were already a little tight on space, so I can't imagine a triple. There is a chance that forced triples will be de-tripled, but it seems like my school picked an entire floor and made them forced triples because they didn't have enough room to house us all, so the chance of my room being the one that's picked is slim (probably won't happen)

We all have to share one closet. Some people have said that there is an extra hanger by the door, but I'm not sure.

Does anybody have any ideas for space? Or just in general, for dealing with problems that might arise in a triple.

Oh and before someone mentions it, my school has a flat rate for dorms, they don't offer discounts or anything because of a triple. Something about fairness, so that upperclassmen don't pay more for their singles/suites.

I was in a triple freshman year and it didn’t bother me. Everyone was on a different schedule so we were usually in the room at different times. Sharing a closet seems like the biggest problem, but beyond cutting down on what you bring or bringing those safe-saver hangers, I don’t have much to give besides my sympathy :)

I do think it’s unfair to charge the same amount for different rooms, but I suppose there’s not much you can do about that.

I was in a triple (voluntary because my school scales prices based on room occupancy) last year, but it sounds like a completely different situation. For one, the room was meant to be a triple. For another, we each got our own closet space. So for your specific situation, like baktrax said all I can offer is my sympathy.

The biggest thing with a triple is consolidation. What I did (bottom bunk) was have totes, take the drawers of the totes out of the shells, and put the drawers below my bed. These had my medicine, snacks, and cooking supplies. Depending on just how much room you have, you could possibly fit another tote that has some clothes and/or miscellaneous stuff in it if necessary. Obviously this solution only works if you’re the single or the bottom bunk.

Space bags are also a lifesaver as far as saving space goes.
