Tips for prep material

Hey!

There probably exist thousands of posts identical to this one, but hope someone still takes the time to answer my thread, or at the very least just paste a link to another forum thread.

What's regarded THE BEST test prep books etc, for the SAT- and TOEFL-test?

Meanwhile is there any websites where I can do some preparation (preferably for free)?

I'm an international if that matters in any way...

Thanks beforehand!

If there are thousands of posts identical to this one, you should look it up for yourself.

Get the Official SAT Study Guide and take a practice test.
The books you get, if any, should be geared to your goals, which should be determined by what you're having trouble with.
Princeton Review is good for strategies but not much else.
Gruber's is good for math.
RocketReview is good for essays--actually, if you look at my late-February to March 1 posts, that'll be really helpful for essays.
For grammar, consult a grammar book.
For reading, develop strategies and get lots of exposure to reading. It's hard to improve on reading.
For vocab, Gruber's has a good list but doesn't have examples of the words in sentences, Princeton Review has a good list.

Please, next time look back a few pages before you ask another SAT question.

Thanks dchow. I know much of this information is scattered about but this is a very nice quick and easy to access summary and it appeared just as we were looking to supplement the CB book.

Don't start off straight away with practice tests...you'll waste them. Get the PR book (Cracking the SAT) and read that first. It is great for the overall info and the strategies. I would also recommend it for the tests; I thought they were very good. If you need more than the CB and Cracking tests, get 11 Practice Tests.

If you don't have a good grammar book from school, get Grammar Smart.

Dunno about TOEFL.
