Hi, I will be a junior this August. And my counselor is saying that I should take SAT for the first time this October. Honestly, I just started to care about SAT like last week.. I took the practice test and at first got 1420, and for the second time got 1520 ( I didn't study at all for both times).I got a higher score on the second one because I learned that when you get a incorrect answer, they minus your score. I didn't know that before so for the second practice test, I skipped bunch of questions. My mom is really strict and she was really disappointed. My goal is to get around 2000/2400. I know I'm a little late to prepare for the SAT but I will try. I don't really know how to study or anything.. This is really making me depress. English is my third language so I suck at vocabularies. The SAT class teacher(?) told me that if I study really hard I will get up to 2000. However, I did some research and everyone who studied hard seems like they only improved about 200 points. Does that mean I'm going to get 1700 even if I study hard? I will be attending SAT classes from Kaplan next month for only a month. I know that it's not enough, so how should I study more? My cousin got accepted to Harvard and her SAT score was 2380. My mom always compare me with her and I really don't want to disappoint her anymore. I'm really frustrated.. Is there any way that I can get up to 2000? What books should I use and how should I study? My friend told me she tries to memorize 50 words each day and I know that's going to be hard for me... :c Please share some tips..! thank you so much.
