Tips on building a strong active social life

So i transfered to UTD midway. I use to hang out friends from high school but they have either only hanging out with their fraternity brothers or graduated. Nowadays I’m just sitting in my apartment on friday night and the weekend. I only have two semester left and really want to make some friends. I’ve been asked several times to join the greek life but now that I’m a senior it would be too late to pledge.Any way to stay social on campus?

I would recommend joining some clubs. Particularly ones that you have an active interest in or ones that you know hang out with one another outside of the club meetings. At my school, there are several clubs like the student environmental action coalition that do many cause-related events but also do social events such as off-campus trips into the mountains or mixers with other organizations. It’s a great way to get active too, Alternatively, see if you can grab lunch with people in your classes or start talking to people you happen to meet

I definitely agree with @shawnspencer, you should join at least one club that pertains to your interests. To me that seems like the easiest way to make friends: you’ll already have at least one thing in common with everyone, and they’re usually very welcoming to new members. Many clubs will also do their fair share of partying, so you should be able to have an easier time finding parties.

Even better might be an intramural sports team: you would get the same benefits that you would get if you joined a club, but it’s also a good way to keep yourself in shape. The friends you make on a sports team and in clubs should help you find things to do on the weekends.

Smile, say hello, linger in some conversations, be open to opportunities to invite to do things, accept some invitations.
