Tips on full time school+full time job?

Hi,

I came to college with the idea of premed like many other students. I did ok my first year (3.65 GPA) but when second year came around, I got a lot of family financial issue which require me to work 35-40 hours a week. I got a C in both Organic Chem 1 and Bio 1 (I got B+ in Gen chem and A in Physics and A in Calculus). I decided premed route is not for me but I still want to be in the major Biochemistry/Food science because I genuinely love it. With that said, I still need a decent GPA to get into Graduate school to do something I love in the future that is not to become a doctor (I volunteered at a local hospital for half a year and found the environment is not suited for me).

I really did try very hard but still probably end up with a 2.5 first semester of Sophomore year :(. Any tip can help me? I cannot quit my job because the money is very crucial to me and my family at this point and if i suspend my education for it I fear I will not come back.

Honestly, I’ve never heard of someone getting good grades while getting 15 credit hours and a full time job. It just spreads you way too thin. I’ve talked to a lot of people and everyone says work just takes a lot away from school.

Oops well I guess I didn’t really give you a solution. The only thing I can think of is knocking out two birds with one stone. I hear people getting lots of hours in at a not so demanding job like a library while getting a ton of homework done.
