This question has nothing to do with anything written. What is the best cell phone provider in the NYU area?
Thanks

Nocca, do I honestly have to buy the numerous books listed for Conwest: 19th c. and Antiq? I mean can I get the excerpts online instead of buying the whole thing?

Golakes, I responded to your PM.

And Simply, this is definitely one question that I don't know the answer to unfortunately, since I didn't have to take any MAP courses (as I'm in Tisch). But my one question is are you sure you want to take Antiquity and the 19th Century? I've heard from many people that it's a complete snorefest...unless you're interested in it. Just make sure you're interested in that time period, or I would highly recommend picking another ConWest. But I'm digressing...I'd say in general if you know you can get the excerpts online, why not save the money? The only problem would be those times that you didn't have access to a computer, or if the professor wants to read along in the book in class (a high non-possibility). This is a question I'd direct towards someone took the class last year. Maybe one of my friends still here took it...I'll be sure to ask one of them tomorrow!

I have a recitation on the first day of class, but before I actually have the real class. Do I need to attend the recitation?

hey! i have a quick question about housing.....i was assigned to what i'm guessing is a suite-style dorm in goddard. i'm kind of confused since i thought there were only doubles and some triples in goddard but i was assigned the "A" room and i've been given a list of 3 other roommates. is there 1 bathroom for the 2 rooms or is there 1 bathroom for each?

and also, even if it's kind of premature, how easy is it to switch rooms? (i'm asking this purely out of curiousity)

I am looking at what keyboard to buy for freshman music theory class at NYU. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Are Tisch Scholars chosen more for their great audition/portfolio or grades? Just wondering

To aoi: Yeah, you kind of have to go to your recitation, you might go over things there before...I mean, you COULD skip and it probably wouldn't mean much since you haven't had the class yet, but it wouldn't hurt to just go and then if there's nothing, I don't know, say you have to use the bathroom and just...leave haha. But I'd go, it can't hurt, and it'll get you off to a good start. P.S. Are you Japanese/taking Japanese? If you are taking it, is it hard/do you like it?

To dancin: There's only one bathroom per suite and room. So that means if two rooms are connected (A and B rooms), those four people are sharing one bathroom. It's not too bad, it really isn't. I only had one roommate, but if it were a real issue, I would have heard it from people all last year, and I didn't hear a single complaint about it. Except when people were really dirty haha.

To solodoc: I need a keyboard as well, for musical theatre studio haha. So, I'm still looking/researching/asking people before I get one next week, so I'll let you know.

To bimachris: Tisch Scholars are chosen on a combination of academic merit and artistry. I heard (rumor) that they're phasing out both Tisch and Stern Scholars sometime in the near future, so you might want to check on that...

What! Aw that sucks, must be lack of funding. <_< Cheap bastards, lol jk

dancintherain, what's your room number? i was at goddard freshman year, if you tell me it i can probably tell you exactly what your room will be like.

What software would an ETW student need? Would I-Work 08 be sufficient or is Microsoft Office for Mac needed? Thanks!!!!

Also do you know if you can get your student id made on Sat. before move in??

Do you know if the lowrise floors in hayden have the same floorplan as the highrise ones? Also do you know anything about the -24 rooms (lowrise)?

UAMom: For an ETW student (or any student in general here unless you're in like film production, computer science, or other major that deals with computer tricks and such), I'd say any program that has a word processor close to standard Microsoft Word is sufficient. At the NYU Computer Store, you can get Microsoft Office for Mac (NYU Version) for like $60.

scorpion: Visit haydenrooms.wikispaces.com. All of the floors have the exact same floor plan. The -24 rooms are close to the elevators...those are good rooms, very sunny, haha.

Hey NOCCA Junior, what exactly is a meal plan? Like is each meal a set thing but it counts as one of the meals (so its free-ish). Or does a meal mean that I get to go inside and use my declining dollars? Thanks

ok thanks! that makes me feel better haha

The meal plan has two parts: a set number of meals, and the declining dollars. You have a set number of meals you can use each week/semester, depending on the type of meal plan, and then if you go over the set amount of meals you have for the week/semester, THEN you can use your declining dollars to purchase additional meals. In addition you can use your declining dollars to purchase food/items that aren't at the dining halls such as at Starbucks, or if you want to buy snacks or toiletries at a convince store that accepts the declining dollars.

I am applying to the TISCH CAP 21 summer program this summer... if that doesn't work out, i'm also sending in applications to CMU and other places

If I keep this up, what are my chances looking like for getting into Tisch for college? Also, could you chance me now on whether or not I may make the summer program?

I was just wondering, when you're filling out your dorm stuff, can you choose to be put in a 2-person, 3-person, 4-person, etc room or is stuff like that random?

You can't specify, but - If you apply to Uhall or Third North you'll almost definitely be with 3 or more other people (one sharing with you, another 2 sharing your common area). The others it's likely you'll be with just one other but sometimes there'll be more.

After freshman year you can choose.

Ah so all I can do is hope for the best, lol. Third North's actually my second choice because of all the film stuff there. My first choice is Weinstein. Any opinions on those two dorms? I know they're pretty different from each other.
