Tisch freshman willing to answer questions

Thanks so much! I was really worried about my academics. I know people have started getting invitations, so I'm just waiting to hear.

No I completely understand. My friend got the letter and I didn't...but I wound up getting an acceptance letter the next week and a huge scholarship anyway :-). Keep your fingers crossed boo.

oh man, MY friend got her acceptance letter last week, and I'm still waiting to here. haha

Are all acceptees invited to the Tisch event? In other words, even though everyone is getting these postcards at random times, is everyone eventually invited to the event? I know each differet school has different events. I'm just trying to be optimistic as I am painfully waiting!!!

Ummm...no, haha. Only if you get a postcard can you go, and know that you're in for sure. But don't worry too much...the majority of those accepted don't get postcards, they can't have everyone there at once. It's just those that, I guess, NYU really wants to consider the school. One more week, relax...

DM290 - no, not all those accepted get invited to the Tisch event, although there seem to be a lot of people this year who have received the invite (or may be more people are reading CC nowadays :)). No need to worry, plenty of people get accepted come April, and simply were not invited to Saturday In the Square, which is an event for just a select number of RD applicants.

thanks guys. it's just so frustrating! do you guys know if these invites are sent up until april 1 or were they just sent out this past week? nevertheless, april first is almost here so what ever is meant to be is meant to be!

I'm pretty sure that all the invites are mailed out at once. Don't stress! You'll know by April 1. You've submitted the best application you can...it's out of your hands now. I really do wish you the best of luck though boo.

hey do you know if the clive davis recorded music sent out any acceptances yet?

I'm sorry I have no idea. But everyone should receive their decision by April 1.

thanks so much for that kind boost! I always feel relieved after going on here!

hey Nocca when you can, check your private messages i sent you a question thanks

I'm answering it now :-).

thank you! [=

Thanks so much for your advice, Nocca!

hey.

i am wondering. do any of your classmates have any financial hardships? (esp film and television)

cuz i got accepted to film but its 53K per year... crazay...

or like, express any financial hardships.

Ummm...yes haha. Unless you're really, really rich, you will be thinking about spending money at least 20% of the time. Most of my friends, although their parents have enough money to pay for NYU full out of pocket, are still money conscious. I, for one, am pretty poor (extremely poor by NYU standard), and have to work about 15 hours a week along with my busy schedule at Tisch to help pay for my tuition and expenses. But if you spend wisely and prudently (and having a job always helps), you should be ok. If you have any specific questions, I'll answer. Hope that helps!

Do you know anyone who went from a BFA to an MA or MS degree without having to make up a whole bunch of courses? If my daughter double majors in
CAS, she'll still end up with a BFA but will she be sacrificing credits that she might need for a future MA (or MS)? I think you mentioned you were double majoring -- might I inquire if that's because you're thinking if theater doesn't work out you'll consider other options? So many people are telling her to double major; do most kids do it at Tisch?

My kids are/were in Tisch, and they are/were able to double major/minor without any problem. One of my kids already has his BFA in Film, and the other one is in the process of getting a BA (still in Tisch). The one with the BA can also double major or minor in CAS - it's a personal preference. The BFA grad can go on for an MA or MS if he chooses to - it's really not an issue. I don't know if most kids double major at Tisch, but it's definitely something to consider if the student has another field of interest that he or she is strongly passionate about.
