Asking for a supplement does not necessarily mean ‘care for demonstrated interest’ for the competetive schools as most of them ask for one,mainly for the function of analysing the applicant pool better.</p>

Well,to an extent,yes.They want to check if the applicant is better ‘fit’ or not.As a Harvard Adcom once said,they are mainly looking for people who can keep up in the environment in their college.
By the way,Dartmouth doesn’t have a “Why Dartmouth” supplement. In fact,its supplement is one of the easiest compared to that of other colleges in its bracket.It asks basically nothing,lol!</p>
<p>The supplement is important for schools like Brown which value demonstrated interest very much.However,it may serve functions other than that as I mentioned in the above post.
