To: All the Freshmen out there

Freshmen here!

btw i absolutely love HS more than my middle school. By almost 100 percent.

AGENDA:
Honors Lit 1
Honors Algebra 2
P.E
Spanish 2
Biology
Geography/Health

the next two years i will post some other time. im trying to finish math hw right now.

Love this thread! I was wondering how many ninth graders there were out here.

Right now Im wondering, what kind of grades are you getting with all those honors classes etc.

quitip guy is going to take AP as a sophmore! WOW

To Glass_Shard: Thanks for the advice. I remember last year, thinking that I was going to be in Team Dance for all four years of high school, because I thought I would be on the school's dance team for all four years. But, that has seriously changed due to fate that no one can change. I'm quitting the team at the end of this year, and I have no regrets at all. My big sis' (not real one, but one who takes you under her wing, is the captain), so she'll be gone, I have no one to dissapoint on the team by my leaving. But, I do have a better opportunity in dance being offered to me, so I will be dancing and actually enjoying it.

To Patrick: Thanks for the thought. But, the classes that I'm taking in the summer, I know for a fact that I wouldn't take them for honors or AP's because I really, really don't enjoy them. I thought long and hard about whether or not to graduate early or not, there are other factors going into it. I'm not doing it just to get ahead and impress college admissions; I have totally different reasons. People think that I could win Prom Queen or Homecoming Queen senior year or something, but those things aren't important to me. Have you ever kind of had a feeling or a premonition about something?

For example, say a guy who wants to see the world, but has been living in the same town all his life, and he knows (he just knows), that he will never get as far as out of state...maybe to the a big metropolis, but he knows that he would never get out of state, and that's because he's deathly afraid of planes. That's the way I kind of feel, I just know I will not be doing a senior year in high school. Yeah, that was a bad example to use to get my point across. But, I do like my school, but I'm just extremely bored, even the parties are getting boring.

I know I have very complex thinking.

Yeah I need summer school since I took study hall which I shouldn't have.
Its a nice break during the day though.
Summer schools extremely easy so its worth a little work. If I didn't take it I'll still be waking up at the time it ends everyday, so Im not losing time or anything...

I wont be the only one taking APs sophmore year. I'm taking them to keep up with other people at our school...

Eh Ill say middle school was 5 times better. No worry about grades.

I don't think graduating early impresses admissions offers. I've heard it can even be a detriment due to not having the maturity, etc needed to survive in a college environment.

One thing I've done and plan to do is I create the big giant plan, and 2 possible alternatives. Then, a year later, I get out the big giant plan and 2 possible alternatives and the course selection for the year and think about my current interests. If, by some luck, the course selection and interests match up with either big giant plan and 2 possible alternatives, well then I'm all set no thinking for me until a year later. If not, then I'd go through and see how I can change it all to still fit some sort of plan, and continue on until I've graduated. I already periodically revisit said schedule as I select and cross off classes to take the next year to make sure they fit in with the plan(and graduation requirements).

Edit: By plan I mean class schedule. Not plan in life. :)

QUESTION TO ALL THE FRESHMAN:
How is High School treating you socially? Did you/are you going to any of the big events/dances? On any sports teams?

To getinside6: Welcome! I'm in this accelerated English thing, so to continue it I have to take AP Rhetoric and Comp. as a soph, but I don't mind. I like English, and I find it very easy. My English track was already mapped out for me by the district board of education, just like thirty other students. This semester I have gotten all A's. I heard that the avg. person gets atleast one low grade in their high school career. So, I'm hoping to get all A's freshmen year, since it's supposed to be the easiest, so that if I do get a couple of bad grades, it won't take me down into the 2.0's UW.

Wow, you are very organized, chrysalis. I only have a rough sketch of my course selections, which is posted on here. High school life is treating me very, very good, atleast when it comes down to socially. It's like the twighlight (sp?) zone, all the people who were my bullies are now trying to be my friends. Most of the freshmen are worried about popularity and who's popular and who's not, but I don't care, I think that's the reason, that it kind of fell onto me. I'm friends with almost everyone, and now that people are slightly more mature than they were in middle school, apparently being an individual is now a trend.

Since, I'm on the dance team, I have to go to every varsity football game. But, no I haven't gone to any dances, because I went to Homecoming last year, and after that, I'm not really interested. That is, unless my org. is throwing the dance or event. I'm thinking about joining track, but I'm not sure.

Seeing all these tough schedules with honors and some AP classes plus the stuff outside of school. It looks like we are on the track to be just like the other kids on the board when we're Juniors and Senior. At times, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing though. LOL

To Patrick: Very true. But, whether or not I graduate junior year or senior year, I will be living on my own. I don't feel like going into further detail about that. :)

To young_one: LOL, I feel the same way, but atleast we know each other now, and I'm sure there will be more people joining CC in our class in the future, but it's nice to the be the Original '08 on CC.

thesiren, you know your situation far better than I, obviously. I was just pointing out some things I uncovered in my own personal research into graduating early. It sounds like you know your stuff, though. :)

Patrick, thank you so much; you are very helpful. Would you still browse the boards of CC when you are in college?

I think I will in my off time. I've gotten a lot of good advice from the boards and think it's valuable for people to get advice from those who've gone through the process. Unless I end up not getting into college ;) in which case I'll come back and pretend I'm going somwhere.

lol..I know you will get in somewhere, and if you don't I will use my influence. My influence is very powerful. People are drawn to me, like mosquitoes are drawn to a light source. Yeah, I do manage come up with the weirdest/lamest examples to use.

Hey, you've still got another year and a half to put up with me. Don't start wishing for me to be around before you know what you're dealing with. :D

I'm obsessive with organization-and I actually get a strong kick out of planning things. So it's natural that I've started college planning early-I also plan a gazillion other things early(although I did not plan Tolo quite as early as some other girls in my school did and am actually taking an ahhh I'll deal about it when it's closer approach). Some people say that if you plan too much it just ruins the fun. I disagree-half the fun is planning, and the other half is half following the plan!

It's definetly going to be fun to see where we all end up four years from now. :)

lol..and you have another year and half or possibly more to put up with me, if you decide to come back, or if CC decides to make you a moderator. You don't know what you are dealing with either. :) <----- That is why I need a technology course, maybe I can learn how make other emoticon smiley faces other than the standard smiley face. If I could post a smiley up on here it would be a sly looking one (whatever that looks like).

To chrysalis: I plan things, but I never really follow them. I only use a planner, because I forget things a lot. I'm usually memorizing some dance or the other. You are right, it will be fun to see where we all end up...who knows, our thread might even make as many parts and sections as the musical theatre thread, or (for old CC members who might know) the Twinkle thread.

Nah, I don't think they'd make me a mod. I'd do it, but I don't think I'll ever get the offer. This forum is pretty respectful, though. There isn't much of a need for mods other than to delete personal info, etc people post.

I know it's really early to think about it, but that's why we're on this board, so what are all of your college dream/goals and if known, your career or major that you want to go into. My ultimate dream would to go into business at Wharton UPenn or some other top business school, even though that'd be an ultimate reach.
