<p>HOWDY</p>
<p>TAMU is one of my top 2 choices (im an OOS applicant from FL) and I am planning to major in engineering (more specifically EE or CE EE path).</p>
<p>I just wanted to know, is it easy for engineering majors at TAMU to find a balance between study time and time for yourself (i.e. going out with friends, doing some EC, etc.)</p>

<p>I am a nuclear engineering major....it is a LOT of work. I manage to squeeze some fun time in, but balance? Not really. The VOLUME of work is tremendous. I find that it is that way with all my engineering friends. We also have to maintain a high GPA for scholarship purposes, so that is a huge incentive to do well. We have fun, but it is not like we are out partying 2-3 nights a week like some of the liberal arts majors....</p>
<p>But I would bet engineering is hard no matter where you go.</p>

<p>It's all about time management. In fact,you can simply choose to take less credits if you can't handle too many.</p>
<p>The grading system is A&M may be a little bit weird. There's no such thing like A-,B+.If you fail to get A, you can only expect B. That's why it's not easy to maintain a high GPA here.</p>
<p>Balance? Lol, like said before there is not much balance. I am an Aerospace Engineering major and my personal time is pretty limited with just entry level engineering classes (I'm starting upper level in the spring). Of course I've never taken less than 15 hours, but if you are expecting to graduate in 4 to 4.5 years you have to. My advice is try and get into honors, their profs grade so that you can keep your GPA up instead of working your butt off to maintain an ok GPA as I have with a 3.26.</p>
<p>Does the same apply to TAMU-galveston. Naval Arch and Marine engineering particularly?</p>
<p>Umm... TAMU-galveston? They kinda have been hit by a hurricane and are attending school in college station as of now. So I don't think I or anyone can say much for them...</p>
