I will be a sophomore transfer at UPenn and I wanted to know if any transfers of 2006 or before have any tips or advice since things are different for a transfer student, share your experience... And another thing, are there seats reserved for transfer students? since by the time that we're able to register (which is after the transfer student orientation on Aug 29th) most classes will be full esp English classes, any recommendations on that?

where from?

Hmmm... coming from personal experience (I transferred as a sophomore into the college last fall) I would say the most important thing to remember is to get your coursework from your previous colleges together ASAP. Transferring credit is a smooth process as long as you have all your information together as soon as you get to orientation.

In terms of getting into classes, I wouldn't worry too much. Apart from writing seminars and some of the smaller humanities classes, some of which are probably full at this point, most classes still have openings. And even if they don't, I have yet to run into a situation when a seat hasn't become available before registration ends.

Oh yeah, and as dumb as this sounds, do as many of the transfer orientation events as possible. The penn transfer class is fairy close knit and its a great way to meet people.
