To Drexel students: Do most of your classmates like this school?

I have been reading some students reviews from students review.com and it seems like a large majority strongly dislike the faculty/employees...it is really scaring me off tbh.. in your unbiased opinion, is this the majority?

Joe, i can guarentee you that its not the majority. At every school you’ll have a couple teachers, or a couple faculty members that are hard or suck or can’t even english. To be honest, i’ve been here for three years and have never had any bad faculty members, all of them were great, even though many were very hard and made you work for your grade. There will be always a couple students that get screwed by Drexel somehow (at drexel they call it the drexel shaft). For example, you may get “shafted” from people get shafted is maybe someone gets an academic hold on their account and can’t register for classes and ends up not being able to take a class they need. I had a friend who’s laptop and clothes got destroyed freshman year after a pipe burst above his ceiling. Although it was drexel’s fault, in the housing contract, they tell you to purchase renters insurance for things like that they are not responsible (which is usually included with your homeowners insurance), but things like that are sometimes overlooked. He ended up getting screwed and drexel would not pay for his stuff and he ended up transfering out after they kept making life difficult for him.

The point I’m trying to make is yes, some people hate the school, but its not the majority. At every school there is going to be red tape and a few bad experiences… you can let them get to you or not. Also, a big thing I’ve noticed is that the students usually unhappy that end up transferring out their first year are the ones that don’t get involved with any type of student life, and don’t go out anywhere. There’s so much to take advantage of, and so much more to Drexel than academics. If you want an unbiased survey, when your taking a tour of drexel, ask a bunch of students at drexel in the streets or in the cafeteria if they like it here.

By the way, its great to try to get as much information about a school as possible but don’t let sites like students review.com scare you for drexel or any other school. experience it for yourself. how do you know the person writing that is your same personality, or even a student at all? For example, if you look at Harvards ratings on there, you’ll see that they also have many bad reviews… eg: take a look at this link:

the comments here seem just about identical to the ones complaining about drexel

thanks zack, another informative response once again lol, that is quite a relief, because I didn’t want to spend so much money just to be screwed over… ; / , hopefully I won’t … knocks on wood… and that is true of waht you say now that I think about it because people that enjoy their drexel experience would not really be inclined to praise it while others who are not having such a great time would look for an outlet…

and the city environment of DU is one of the reasons I am attending, so I am definitely going to not stay cooped up in my dorm.
