It’s been a long month and a week, but we’re here. Rejections, waitlistings and acceptances. Those who were accepted, congratulations. I wish you the best from the bottom of my heart. I’ve spent days pondering a potential life at Cal Poly, speaking to current students and faculty to reaffirm it was the place for me. I knew my fate after the first wave of my major came through, but I still hung through with many of you as we waited for our decisions to arrive. There was angst, frustration, anger and lone hope in that thread, and over 1.5k replies later, we now know what our fate is.

I’d like to especially thank @nomie1, @justin7473, @CDSMOM, @eyemgh, @czs1994 and @ralph4 for being there through the entire process. For those undergoing the process for themselves or their children, just know that whatever college accepts you/your child is extremely fortunate. You all seem like great people and I hope you all do well in life.

I’ll be lurking around the UC threads so maybe we’ll see each other there. Soon we’ll know where we are destined to be. Thank you everyone, I’ll be signing out. This is likely my last post here, I don’t want to dwell on this rejection.

It’s no big deal, I’ve been accepted to Babson and SDSU so far. Really interested with Babsons options, and the UCs are coming up as well. It’s definitely tough to slowly move away from CP and SLO in general, slowly deleting all my bookmarks and other stuff :/

Sorry, TSchaser. So many high performing students being rejected from SLO! You’re in good company and you’ll do great wherever you go. CP is a great school, but there are many other great ones out there. Good luck! :-)

My son almost applied to Olin which is basically a wholly contained engineering campus within the Babson grounds. Olin turned out to be WAY too small, but the take away was that Babson itself was really cool. It’s in a great location with a really nice campus. It is one of the places we visited that actually made me a bit sad that my son was limited to schools with engineering.

Where ever you land, I’m sure you will thrive. You could do worse than Babson and the Boston area. Good luck!

So sorry, I honestly don’t know if it is possible to get in mid year they say no, however, there is always an exodus of students who can’t make it, or miss home too much. If you end up still unhappy after a couple of quarters I suggest you try to talk to or go see the Chair of the Department and see if there is any chance you can transfer in, be sure to take courses that transfer. My son knew Cal Poly was for him, he never worried, but I was a wreck knowing what it would do to him if he didn’t get in. I feel for you but I think you will be happy where ever you end up.

@TSchaser - You’re a class act. So articulate, so humble, so gracious. I haven’t a single doubt that you will succeed beyond your (our!) wildest dreams. Cal Poly is the poorer for not accepting you.

@czs1994 I’m considering it but my idea of a career is in flux right now and Cal Poly is known for being a bit strict on these things. I’d also like to go for 4 years, but i think it could still be done. I’m questioning how i proceed from here because if my goal is to transfer, i would have to choose a CC or continue on at whatever school I get into and try to transfer to a more prestigious private provided my grades are good. I’ve come a long way since freshman year and frankly my earlier years don’t qualify me as much as the other applicants. But hey SLO is still a great place and honestly graduating debt free is one of the greatest things to have upon leaving college.

@socalmom23 Thank you so much for your kind words. I still wish Cal Poly had an essay portion, that way maybe I could make up for my other weaknesses but its all in the past now I have some friends SLO bound and I think they deserve it more right now. Ultimately, the school accepted the best that CA had to offer and I have to accept I wasn’t quite there at all. However, I’m confident that whichever school accepts me will be proud of their decision. I hope everything goes well for you and your family.

I’ve never spoke to you prior to this post but first and foremost I would like to wish you good luck at wherever school you decide to attend in the Fall. From the way you approached this thread and are taking the rejection is the sign of a true winner. I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that you will live a prosperous and wondrous life throughout College and moving forward in life with the mindset you are portraying. Everything in life happens with reason, you could only control so much. Life is what you make out of it.

Good look to you as well, Mark. I remember in the transfer thread…people were bashing you for getting in with your stats? Shame on them, have fun and show them whats up.
