to hard of a schedule

Hey, at least you'll stay in shape while enjoying your other classes! :)

not sure about the PBK stuff at all. Maybe you should email someone at the school about it.

The media studies course shouldn't be a lot of work but dropping it might put you into the best boat. You seem like you would be ok in Calc III honors but it wont be a walk in the park for anyone (although I dont have any first hand experience with the class... I took calc III in high school).

calc III in high school? Damn! I'm glad I'm getting my advice from a smart one.

Shoebox - are you talking about Fren 331 when you talk about your french major friend's class?

Yeah I think so. I just remember lit being in the name, or along that line. She read/wrote a lot for it, it wasn't just a technical language class.

Oh okay, 331 is different then - intensive french grammar. I was worried there!

I also was wondering if my schedule this semester is a little too difficult...

PHIL 100 Intro to Philosophy with Mitchell Green
ECON 201 Principles of Economics with Leonard Mirman
MATH 132 Calculus II with Katie Quertermous
PLPT 101 Intro to Political Theory with Melvin Rogers
ENWR 210 with Sarah Ingle

...what do you guys think?

I believe you've got 5 courses there with 16 credits total. You have 1 difficult math course and 4 humanities courses that will certainly take up a lot of your time. Since this is your first semester, maybe you should drop a humanties course. If you want to take 15, pick up a usem or perhaps a cola and a PE course.

Katie Q is great, you had good luck getting her!!
It will be a lot of reading but it's not an impossible schedule. The good thing about reading courses is that within the first week or two you should know if it will be too much for you. Or you could just not do some readings, depends how well you want to do.

meh, all of his humanities classes ate easy, and he should be able to get by doing like half the reading for all of them. That schedule wont be bad.

how about a schedule of
ECON 201 Mirman
COMM 180 Kemp
APMA 212 Mohajeri
CHEM 151L
ENGR 162 Watkins

Its a pretty generic engineering schedule. Also since my STS was waived do I still need to read the America 1908 book?

double-yes you have to read it, the common reading experience will take place before classes actually begin.

I think it mentions that your STS professor may use it but I doubt they will. That's probably where you got the idea that it was meant for the STS101 course and not just for all engineers. The schedule itself is extremely manageable, it will definitely let you work your way into the college routine.

hey guys,

Econ 303 - Boedo
Econ 301 - Unal
Soc 220 - Holcomb
Stat 212 - Holt
Random Phys. ed.

I was originally going to do Comm 201 instead of Soc 220, but at the advice of Prof. Reynolds I decided against it. Im still double thinking whether I made the right decision of switching those two courses. This is my first semester being at the university (transfer) so it was probably the smartest thing to do. I am kinda worried about the adjustment.

What do you guys think of my professors? Anyone want to comment on whether my original schedule was doable for an incoming student?

Thanks

Just to warn you, Boedo is not a great professor at all. His lectures are hard to comprehend and put you to sleep immediately. Basically, you can't understand 90% of the stuff he says - it's fuzzy and not structured. In every lecture class last semester, only about 15-20 people came on a regular basis.

His exams are straight forward and you just have to read all 600+ pages of the textbook because the questions are taken straight from it. He has three midterms, a final and a report - the topic will be assigned to you. Good luck!

DANGIT! comm 201 has two more spots left and i cant decide what to do!!!!1

Someone help!!!

does anybody know anything about MATH 114? Also would taking
4 comm pre-req be a good idea for your 1st semester if your applying
to Mcintire?

I don't think you'll be able to enroll in comm 201 on ISIS, as it's restricted for second-years. Maybe if you email the professors, you might be able to take it in the fall or the spring.

Regarding math 114, it's a pretty straightforward and relatively easy course. Very little theory and 99% of it is applied - mostly calculations. Take as many pre-requisites as you can for the comm school. The earlier, the better.

i can enroll...im just wondering if its a doable schedule.
