Two more hints for your D:

If you get to the HTC interview stage, get to know your student hosts and meet as many current HTCers as possible (esp. Scripps). Also get to know the others there for interviews (again, especially Scripps). HTC or not, it is always nice to know people before you even show up for orientation. Like I mentioned above, OU students are known for being unbelievably friendly and will respond to friendliness from you.

If she is passionate about acting, then, even if you are not a Drama student, there are TONS of opportunities to act in student films. The film department and the Media Arts department students are making zillions of short films and are in need of actors. Perhaps get to know some of these students right away (even at orientation/interview weekend - esp. HTCers in those majors) and let them know right off that you act and would love helping with films, ESPECIALLY for Shootout Weekend in February. A lot of those film guys form filmmaking groups that stick together for the four years and it would be good to be a part of on-going filmmaking, no matter what your major. I suggested using the HTC film and Media people (even if you are not HTC) because (warning: bias ahead) they may be more successful with their films (not always true, but you have a better chance of finding more committed people…?).
